sorry but b/c my FH is currently serving overseas the only choice for me is Bush, as he and many other military men have told me, they want him in office, so Bush has my vote


oh and my man he DIDN'T CHOOSE THIS, for some people it is the only option available t them if they want a good future. Unfortunately there are people in this world who are not as fortunate as the rest of us. It is not really a choice when it is the really the only choice you have. Oh, and no my man doesn't think we should be there, that is not what I was saying. They are just nervous about an exchange of power while they are in a foreign land. In the past that hasn't always worked well for our military men/women.

I agree Jonn, even though many seem not to, I just dont get it really..I would love in simple lay man's terms to understand what exactly bush has done for us , what he did after 911 and what he plans on doing in Iraq, a country that never wanted us there, that we are not doing any good in and regardless if I feel horrible that people are serving there...yes I have family there too, BUT they choose to defend the country and go where they were told, they dont get it either...so no , not all people in Iraq agree they should be there...I think it was useless while obviously Osama runs free to re-gain strength while we fight a war that has no real meaning and the country lives in fear of the next terror attack.

I agree completely!!!! There is no way that I could even think about voting for Bush. I personally think he has isolated the US and aided ( albeit unintentionally) the mentality of those who look to destroy our way of life.

Can I ask a question. We had him? and let him go? like physically had him like saddam hussien? or do you mean had him like in the area or waited to long to attack that he got away. I just want to make sure Im not missing something important, I try not to watch too much news b/c it really scares me, just like that recent video that said americans will crawl in their blood, I couldnt sleep that night. Im really scared, but try not to show it and go on about my day ya know but deep down im frightened.

I know b/c of my FH is military that there was one point in time that he was clearly in our sights and he slipped away. We were close on his trail as they say and he was able to escape. I dunno if that answers your question but that is what i know.

have you seen the obl video....well it's kind of strange....here is a man who the whole world wants to get and he is free, the man who KILLED tons of people in YOUR home town, people who we all knew,loved and wanted to live a lot longer then they did........well bush had him and let him go, why would you want 4 more years of this....please let me know

Also, the troops have been doing a great job. Clearly, there is much more to be accomplished over there. However, the media only focuses on the negative. Your FH and our troops have accomplished some amazing things since Iraq was liberated. Here is an article that highlights some of the improvements that are often ignored.

ROCK ISLAND -- The images of violence, death and destruction that stream out of Iraq on a daily basis tell a terrible story, but an incomplete one, according to two Iraqi men traveling through the Midwest.

The stories, they say, need to be tempered with a new tale, a tale of hope now that Saddam Hussein has been overthrown.

'After the liberation, things changed a lot,' Ali Hashim Ramadan said. 'But the good things, no one knows about the good things. They know about all the bad things that have happened.'

Mr. Ramadan and Hayder Abdulkarim stopped in Rock Island Tuesday as part of their effort to spread the complete story of what's happening in their country.

Mr. Ramadan is a lawyer from Basra, Iraq, who is working on grassroots efforts to build a democracy with U.S. contractor Research Triangle Associates. Mr. Ramadan helped organize and monitor Basra's city council elections in 2004 and participates in local governing body meetings as an advisor and facilitator.

He also worked on school reconstruction projects and oversaw the distribution of educational supplies to 1.5 million students and 50,000 teachers in the cities of Basra, Messan, Nassirya and Mothana.

Mr. Ramadan speaks English with a Scottish accent -- he lived in Scotland for five years, until 1984, when he returned to Iraq to visit family.

'We didn't know things were going to be like that. We were never allowed to leave,' he said. 'Iraq was like a big prison to us. No one could leave. Men spent most of their life in the Army. If you make a mistake in the Army, they cut your ear off.

'I was separated from (my) father eight years because he refused to join Saddam's party,' Mr. Ramadan said. 'He decided to leave the country. My father was the dean of the culture of law at Basra University, but he was not a Baath party (member) -- they put him in this position because he was the only professor of law in Basra.'

Mr. Abdulkarim, Baghdad, is a doctor and volunteered with the Middle East Council of Churches in Iraq to provide humanitarian assistance during the war. He has worked as an activist on behalf of interfaith dialog between Muslims and Christians in Iraq.

He watched as 12 of his relatives were executed in front of his family under Saddam's rule.

'Since the liberation, we have seen big things happen, freedom,' Mr. Abdulkarim said. 'Now we have (freedom). Before we had no human rights.'

He said he worked in an Iraqi hospital that was old and poorly equipped. He worked 12 hours a day for 30 days each month, and was paid the equivalent of $1.50.

'There was no system for vaccination,' he said. 'It was an unhygienic situation under the control of the government and their focus was on weapons, fighting and the army.'

Both men say the media has focused on the bad things that have happened since the liberation. Mr. Ramadan accused Arab news channel Al-Jazeera of paying crowds to portray anti-American sentiment.

Both will return to Iraq after the end of the month. They want Americans to know most Iraqis are thankful for the U.S. and coalition efforts.

Both also say the attacks that continue against coalition forces and Iraqi civilians are the work of Baath party loyalists and terrorists from outside Iraq. Both also are looking forward to the elections in January.

'Somebody said 60 to 70 percent will participate (in the elections) but I think it will be between 60 and 80 percent,' Mr. Abdulkarim said. 'We think we have a good partner, a strong partner in changing our government from dictatorship to a democracy. This is the first time in our history that we can choose -- before it was a dictator and now we can choose a democracy.'

'We don't want the Americans to stay forever,' Mr. Ramadan said. 'But we don't want the American policy to change. We are not ready to depend on us yet.'

The Iraq-America Freedom Alliance carries on its Web site a long list of improvements it says have occurred since Saddam Hussein was toppled: 3,300 Iraqi schools renovated or built, 170 newspapers published in the country, 70 mosques refurbished by coalition troops, and clean water for 20 million Iraqis.

'We would like to thank all fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters of those who send loved ones to Iraq to liberate and free us. This gave us hope to live in peace and have a life,' Mr. Abdulkarim said. 'God bless those who died for Iraq because they died to create this country and fight against the terrorist. ... They did their duty, and we are willing to continue to do their duty.'

Why do people in the military want Bush to be President again? Kerry DID support the war in the beginning, he is just opposed about the way Bush went about it. With the way Bush is running the military, people are going to have to be drafted in the future. There's so many soldiers that are dying because Bush is a horrible leader.

I have nothing to say except that it will be a SAD, SAD day for this country if George W. Bush gets re-elected on Tuesday. I fear the direction of our country under this mans power. That's MY opinion.

I am so frustrated because I sent my voter registration like two days before the deadline, and I don't know if I'll be able to vote Tuesday. I'm going to call up tomorrow. But even if I sent it the day before, the postmark has to be before the deadline which it would have been. I will be so mad if I can't!

Excuse me? You know nothing about me and who I do or do not know that is fighting in Iraq. I'm very sorry for you that your FH is over there fighting, but don't tell me that I don't have respect for someone else's freedom when you are giving everyone else sh-t for speaking their mind, which, consequently, is part of our freedom. I hardly EVER respond to ridiculous crap like yours, but in this case, I've seriously had enough. Direct your issues elsewhere.
