I wanted to ask my next question because the holiday season is approaching! Ever since me and FH have been together, deciding where were going for the holidays has always been sort of an issue because my family alwayss knows where we're going far in advance for all of the holidays, and FH's family decides last minute. My family also makes a hugee deal out of the holidays, my moms house looks like a winter wonderland, I love it! I guess that's why we decided to get married in Decemeber! This year I'm not sure how were going to split up the holidays between our families but I hope it goes smoothly!
So the question is.....
Where do you and FH spend the holidays and is there any stress or it always works out? How do you also decide where to go?

Ours is actually pretty easy. We do Christmas Eve early dinner at my family, Christmas Eve late dinner/stay to midnight and open presents his family, Christmas day my family.... it works. My family goes allll out for Christmas, too. His local fam is pretty small, so they just do the special dinner/midnight thing

Christmas is without question, my family holiday. My family takes it very seriously so if I wasn't there it would be the end of the world and hell fire would rain down (right out of my mother's mouth) for the rest of my life. Sad part is I'm not even joking. I missed a Thanksgiving with an Ex years ago and I still hear about it!
Generally FH's immediately family doesn't do too much for the holidays. FMIL can barely keep a job so she can't do much in the way of hosting, and she hates going up to her sister's so FSIL & FBIL tend to just hang at FMIL for a couple of hours and then go home. If we miss that (regardless of the holiday) it's not that big of a deal.

We do Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas day with his. Thanksgiving is also with my family but we'll either stop by his dad's house that morning or he'll come to us.

For thanksgiving it is a little tricky but since it is just FH and his parents they usually come to either my mom or sisters depending on who is cooking.
Christmas is easy FH is Jewish so we spend it with my family

We've only had 1 holiday season together, and it wasn't too crazy.. Thanksgiving is gonna be tricky, last year we met up for dessert.. Christmas EVe day we visit his family, Christmas Eve we're at my moms. Christmas day I go to his family.
Luckily when we have a house we can just have everyone over our place!

Thanksgiving is hard esp since my parents are divorced so they each do every other year so FH and I can't even do every other year . .. . x-mas we plan to do x-mas eve at mine and x-mas day at his. ..and FH is jewish too so you think it wouldnt matter but his brother and his wife and nephew etc celebrate x-mas and that is his main family now he wants to go there. ..

THe Holidays are tough for us. His parents are divorced and if we see his dad then we HAVE to see his mom or the drama starts. I still spend the holidays with my family and will until we get married. This year it is a bit easier since my parents moved to Florida they wont be here for all the holidays.

For us it usually works out nicely.. My family doesn't do much on Thanksgiving, we just hang around and eat all day.. so I usually go with FH to his families house and then to my family for desssert..Christmas eve is a huge thing in my family so FH comes over for that, then we go to his house on Christmas day and back to my parents (since they live around the block from us) for dessert. Easter we take turns. I am really glad it works out so well for us. Altho this year he is working on Thanksgiving and Christmas so I think I am spending them with my family

We do both families on both days, but it's become too crazy...b/c then we're driving all over the island! So, this year is SUPPOSED to be one family one day, and the other family the next. That way we can spend the full day with each family. Then, the following year we will change it around again....

There is definitely some stress involved in deciding where we go. We usually just wait until we hear where the family will be and then decide. We try to fit everyone in as much as possible, like one place for dinner and another for dessert. Things are changing as the family is growing and soon we'll probably start new traditions as to where we go, especially when we start having kids.

It's pretty easy for us - my parents are pretty low-key on the holidays and his family goes all out. We celebrate with his family and go visit my parents either the day before or the day after. Recently, my parents have been joining us for the holidays at his family's house, which makes it even easier.

Well, for us it has been super easy. Way before we were engaged, FH's family has been coming to my house for Christmas Eve because my Mom goes all out and loves having people over. Thanksgiving we have been alternating every year- one year at FH's and one year at my Sisters. Christmas Day is at FH's during the day and my Aunts at night. Easter is at FH's during the day and my Sister's at night.

For us it's easy considering I am Catholic and he is Jewish. So for Xmas we always go to my parents house and then we do Chanukah and everything else at his parents house. It makes it a lot easier considering we dont have to fight about where we are going!!
