how did you pick your wedding date?I wanted winter since it was the cheapest time of the year lol since my parents are paying and I could throw in extras if we didn't spend tons on the hall. and I picked the 18th since my birthday is Sept 18 and I love the number 18. I picked January because I didn't want it around Christmas, my mom and her family are all from down south and I didn't want them having to fly up and it be $$$. Same goes for Thanksgiving because usually any holidays it's $$$ to fly. I also didn't want around Valentines day. And then both my parents birthdays are in March so January it was! It's also the month FH first made me his girlfriend
and as they all buy their tickets it's only $89 each way around the wedding (from New Orleans) so everyone's been so happy and more of my cousins are now coming because of that.

FH and I picked September for our wedding kinda as a happy medium. I wanted to get married in the summer, like July or August, but FH said it would be too hot since we are having our ceremony outside. So we agreed on September since the weather is still warm during that time, but not too hot. And the 20th just happened cause the venue we wanted only had the 20th or the 27th available and we originally wanted the 13th, so we just took the next available week which was the 20th, which also just happens to be my brothers birthday!

we wanted october initially, but fell in love with three village inn and saw we could save some money just by moving it up to august ... so we took the 29th, the friday of labor day weekend figuring people could make a longer weekend out of it.

I was so set on nov 1. But after seeing prices I knew it wouldn't be possible. So I decided to try December which is much more reasonable (although I hear that is changing since many people are choosing December to save money! Lol). And we choose the 6th because its st Nicholas day and the hubbys name is Nicholas so he feels super special lol at first I was a little upset about not getting the fall wedding but then I took a step back thought about how much I love the holidays and decided to incorporate it into our wedding. Now I couldnt be happier!!! :)

I knew I wanted a summer wedding on a friday night in either June or July. I didn't want the 6th or 13th because it is my mom & fmils bday & wanted the day to be only about us. Westbury Manor had 620 & 6/27 available. I let FH pick which one. He chose 6.20.14 because it is all round numbers lol

FH and I are both teachers, so we knew it would be best to have a summer wedding (we both felt strongly about taking our honeymoon right after). We didn't want August because we didn't want to go on our honeymoon and come right back to the first day of school, so we looked at July, because the end of June is not only my 30th bday, but it's too close to school ending. We have a friend getting married July 4th so we wanted to give at least a week in between in case they did their honeymoon and it would give friends a chance to recover! Then, to tell the truth, I counted the weeks of every month to see when my period was coming... didn't want to have it on the wedding or honeymoon hahahahaha

When we were originally talking about getting married we had discussed getting married on our dating anniversary which was 10/13. This 10/13 we already had a wedding to attend so that was obviously out. Then I jokingly said what about 11/12/13 or 12/13/14 and after looking at the calendar we decided on 12/13/14 since it was a Saturday. This was all before he had even proposed and we were just talking about marriage. Then when he proposed on 12/13/12 and worked into the proposal about how there would be a meteor shower (the geminid) on our wedding if we did get married on 12/13/14 because they always fall around the same time and it would 'be just like the night we got engaged'... thats how he proposed. Once he actually proposed and worked that into the proposal.. we KNEW 12/13/14 HAD to be the day!!!

Re: QOTD 11.7.13
Tony and I actually met on Valentines Day (I know, disgustingly cheesy). I always wanted a winter wedding, since I love the holidays and think that winter lends itself better to a black tie, evening affair. Tony always pictured a beachy, summer wedding - completely opposite ends of the spectrum. But, with February being so much more affordable than the summer....and with us meeting each other at that time....I soon had Tony on board with me (it was more the financial incentive, but whatever gets him to side with me
...Since we met on Valentines Day, our first choice date was Sunday, Feb 16th, 2014 (we could save even more $$ doing a Sunday wedding and most people still won't have to work Monday, due to Presidents Day), but the Fox Hollow WGP was already taken for that day. So, we went with the following Saturday. 2-22 just looks like such a nice day, too :)
So happy I convinced him to come on over to my way of seeing things....

Fh wanted a fall wedding, I didn't care either way. Fall '13 was too close, so we went with '14. We like our date for the round numbers, for it being easy to remember ('10-4 over and out'), 10+4=14, and because I caught the bouquet and he caught the garter at a family friend's wedding on 10/4/2008. I think the date is meant to be for us. :)ETA: We realized a few months after booking that our wedding date is also Yom Kippur. We are not Jewish but we have a good amount of guests who observe the holiday. Luckily we discussed it with a friend and he said that after sundown the guests can break their fasts. On our date, sundown is at 7:00 pm which is our cocktail hour. I hope people can still come!

We picked it because I always liked May and September.. I'm getting my MS in December in Education, and didn't want to get married in Sept. because if I get a teaching job, it would look bad to take off the first month of school. So we decided on May, and decided specifically the 25 because it is Sunday of Memorial Weekend. We can spend the whole weekend with family, we get Sunday pricing on the hall, and we are all off on Monday!

FH and I both love the 4th of July, and we initially didn't think we would be able to make it work but we got a great deal, and I love that its a friday but a holiday too so everyone will have off. I was open to anything but once FH got 4th of July in his head there was no changing it! lol

The first date we picked was 12.13.14 because I thought it sounded cool, but I didn't want to be that close to Christmas nor did I want to wait that long. When we went to look at our hall, we had asked about October since that's the month when our dating anniversary is but they had nothing available. At that point, we didn't really care so we just decided for the most cost efficient time of year, which was Jan-April and I didn't want to the dead of winter so we went with March. We also love the date we picked because it doesn't interfere with anything else. We don't ever have any family parties or anything during March so if we decide to go away, it won't cause us to miss out on anything else.

I always wanted a fall wedding. We got engaged in March 2013 so this year would have been way too soon so we picked 2014. When we picked our venue he told me all the dates available for September and October. We could have picked 9/20/14, 9/27/14, 10/3/14, 10/10/14 or 10/25/14. For whatever reason I didn't like the dates for September (I'm weird I know), the 3rd is my dads birthday and I just really liked that way 10/10/14 sounded so we picked that date!

We got engaged on Halloween 2012 and wanted to wait until after the holidays to start planning. In January we decided that we didn't want to have our wedding any further than a year away - plus what the hell is there to do in January?! People are LOOKING for an excuse to party. Also, FH runs hot. A July wedding would never work for him.

We knew we wanted the summer time. We had been hoping that we could get late may or june but to be honest, the friday we took was the first one they had available for next summer lol! I foolishly thought we were so ahead of the game (booked March '13 for July '14), but low and behold, LI Brides are on top of their game
It works out nice since it will be 18 months (minus 1 week) from engagement to wedding. We're happy with our date, just praying it's not 1000 degrees

The date we picked was actually 9/13/13.. The first Friday the 13th of this year.. We love that kind of stuff and it was perfect for us.. BUT then Sandy happened and all our groomsmen suffered damamge to their homes plus FH's job had extensive damages so this year in March when things weren't looking good we asked our RH if we can move 6 mos out to give everyone extra time and they didn't have a problem with it.. Being we are both Irish and love St Paddy's day we purposely picked the Saturday after since we knew we would have so many parties with weekends leading up to it.. LOL.. We are happy with our new date though :)

Re: QOTD 11.7.13
The date was such a great debate for us. Originally I was going to be a 2015 bride so we had a bunch of dates to choose from. We thought Friday, June 5th (the day we got engaged) or June 27 of 2015. Those were the dates we ran past our first 8 halls we saw. Our dating anniversary is February 27, and we love the number. But the more we dwelled on it, the more we didn't want to wait two years. I really wanted to be a June bride. However, once we decided on 2014, we still wanted to give ourselves more time so we said October of 2014.
Chateau Briand was the last place we saw and I knew I wanted it. The only fall dates available were September 26 or October 25. We went with October. My first October choice was the 11th but the 25th was the only available one for Saturday.
Pretty funny how we gave the date so much thought and then it ended up being outta our hands!

My period is all over the place so I can't even determine when it will come that far in advance. But it's my biggest fear!! I'll get down on my knees and pray it doesn't come around wedding or honeymoon.
