~*~*QOTD 11.29.09*~*~

Good morning. Today is my last QOTD. Thanks again to Sheena for making me bride of the week.

Now that you have planned most of your vendors, what advice can you give the late 2010, 2011 and 2012 brides and grooms to help make decisions?

I think the best advice I can give is to make sure you go with questions that you want to ask. That way you can ask similiar questions to the same type of vendors. I also think it is important to go with your gut feeling about a vendor good or bad.

I will post the new BOTW later.

Have a great day!

I'd have to say not to rush into any of them. When I got engaged I was so nervous that the vendors would book up right away, so I would book them right there and then. If I could do it again though I think I would take more time to shop around with certain ones. Back then though I didn't know about LIW so I didn't have everyones wonderful suggestions.

I would say to do your research! Check into your vendor before meeting with them. Check out their website, look at other Bride's reviews, ask around about what others you know have used.
Most of all, take your time booking. Don't feel pressured to book. Do it when you know!!

Dont be afriad to negotiate!! Ask for what you want and stick to your ground!! Vendors will usually bend and if they dont walk out. Consider vendors car dealers.... be tough

Try to look into as many vendors as you possibly can. Although you may like the first one you see- look at at least one more so you have something to compare it to.

Don't be afraid to negogiate!!!! Vendors are used to this. Remember: they want your business- not the other way around!!

Have a budget in mind before you look at vendors. Eventually, your budget may change alot, but it helps to have a numebr in mind. Some vendors will ask what your budget is for that particular vendor (and always give them LOWER!)

I think I would say that while you need to ask lots of questions and everything, you should also pay attention to your gut. If someone sounds amazing, and is giving you a good price, but you're just not getting a good feeling from him/her, move on. Your gut is probably right.

I would say DEFINITELY don't rush into making any decisions. Meet with a bunch of vendors and don't hesitate to ask ALL of the questions you may have.

enjoy the engagement!!! and be realistic in your selections. if you dont have the $$ or just arent ready to get married in a few months, be realistic. we were thinking of late 2009 to get married, but we wanted to extend our engagement so we had more time to plan and relax a bit too.

enjoy the time and dont get too consumed by wedding prep. go on vacation. go to dinner. still have fun and live your life!!!!

Make sure to have a Budget! This was a great starting point when negotiating with vendors. Almost all of them asked, 'What is your budget?' and almost all of them worked with us to stay within budget.

My advice would be to go into the vendor meetings with a good idea of what you're looking for. Bring pictures into florists, photographers, hairdressers, etc.

hmmmmmm
1. this is your Freakn wedding! Block out people's annoying comments

2. don't over do the looking..you will overwhelm yourself...I mean don't go to 20 million stores..narrow it down.

3. don't settle for your first price

4. BUY STAMPS (in bulk) oh and thank you cards

I agree 100%!!!!! Do not rush. The worst feeling is having 2nd thoughts about your vendor choices. Also, reading past LIW reviews have made my decisions much easier... thanks girls!

Ditto!

The past two weddings I've been in, the brides did not negotiate at all and got totally ripped off. They felt pressured, which is exactly how the vendors want you to feel. Don't be afraid to look like a b iotch and stand your ground! At the end of the day, if the vendor gives you a hard time, they aren't the one for you!

My advice would be to not make any rash decisions. I've changed my mind so many times about things that I wanted/liked. I feel like I rushed just to try to get everything done and wasn't really thinking.
