QOTD 12/7

QOTD 12/7

FH and I are in a one bedroom apartment right now and would eventually like to own a home one day. Unfortunately I think Long Island will be too expensive for us to afford a home. We will prolly move somewhere on the east coast but not too far from family here on Long Island. We really like New Hampshire because we like to hike be outdoors. Some of my family are in the New England area. Once we get married we will be living in the apartment until we can save up to move or buy a home. We might have to rent for a year or two in the state where we plan to live also. We will have to put a lot of research into this.

After you get married, where are you planning to live apartment or house? What area is the ideal place that you would want to start your life as a married couple?

We live in a 1 room apartment right now, but we are saving for our own coop/condo 2/3 rooms and then hoping to live in a house 1 day.

We rent a 2 bedroom apartment right now. I am still in grad school and will be graduating in 2015. We'll probably move and buy a house wherever I find a job (ideally we'd like to remain on Long Island or the East Coast).

We are renting a 2 bedroom right now and in July we are moving to my moms house in Merrick because she is moving to North Carolina, my sister lives there. In 4 years when FH retires we will probably move to NC as well. I'd love to buy a house on Long Island but i don't want a fixer upper and we can't afford the ones I like.

it's getting way too expensive here for anyone to live here unless you are well extremely well off, this year alone 10 different people I know moved to Florida. we are either staying here with my dad in his house where we live now but one day when he's gone we won't be able to afford to live here. or we are moving to Pa, or Nashville, or anywhere that FH could become a cop and that we'd like to live there lol. I want pa since it's closer. or preferably somewhere on the east coast I just love it over here.

Nashville was so much fun though and it's not to far from my mom who could visit more than once a year. we really loved it down there. I also love the houses down there we could even have one built! as much as we can't afford it here I love Ny it's so hard to really decide. I also feel horrible to leave my dad by himself. but living upstairs in my dad's house in my childhood bedroom with my tiny closet and no space up here is not ideal.

This year FH and I moved to Raleigh, NC where we were both able to find jobs in education (we just graduated with our masters in May, so this is extremely fortunate). We will continue to live here for at least a few years. We currently rent an absolutely beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom apartment for a reasonable price. We will keep living this way until we reach the next step in our lives. In my dream life, that means moving back to NY to live close to our families. I am not sure that is a reality, so we are just playing it by ear.

FH and I rent a 2 bedroom apartment in PA. When we get married, we are planning to stay in PA since both of us love it here, we are planning to get a house in a couple of years so we can save more money.

Ideally, an apartment in Queens (where we currently live) to start. I don't want to own anything until we are 100% sure we're there to stay.

Would LOVE to move out of NYC but with big families here, it's hard to leave. We'll see where the next five years takes us.

Both my uncles and my grandparents moved out of here to go to NC! My grandma is raving about it. She says she's never coming back to NY, only for my wedding but that's it LOL

we are currently renting a home from FH's parents in NJ ... I don't live there full time yet, but i spend quite a few days a week there. i would like to eventually be able to find something on our own so as not to be indebted to his parents ...

We're in a 2 bedroom apartment right now (we use the second bedroom as a walk in closet bc we both have shopping/shoe problems lol), and we're actually considering moving at the end of our lease this month. If we end up staying in this apartment next year, we will be looking for a house shortly after our wedding.

We've both agreed that we don't want to move into an apartment or condo, we'd prefer to have a home with land for the dogs. We also won't start trying to have kids until we own something.

I have always wanted a fixer upper, that way we can make everything the way we want it. It would kill me to buy a beautiful house that isn't my style, and then rip out a newly renovated kitchen or bathroom. FH thinks I'm nuts, but he also knows that I'll make it happen.

It's beautiful there. They are in Charlotte, everything is brand new and you get a huge new build house for like nothing. FH can't wait to move there

My FH and I just bought a home, and we plan to move in after the wedding.. We should be closing sometime in January, and we want to do some work to the house before we move in. Plus, we both live separately right now and would need to wait until after the bridal shower to move in since we have NOTHING haha

I can't wait to start ripping out the wood paneling in the basement and redoing the 60s-style bathrooms!

that's exactly why we got a fixer upper!! We bought a 2 bedroom wide-line cape in GC south with an unfinished attic.. the home was built in 1947, and I loved that the home was owned by the same couple the entire time... they passed away recently, hence the sale of the home. But I LOVED that the upstairs was still unfinished, because now we can square it off and add two more bedrooms, another bathroom, and an office or something up there and do it the way we want! The basement is half finished, so we are excited to redo that our way as well. These types of homes really are gems and I am excited to start pouring our ideas into the home

We actually FINALLY just got a place in Forest Hills. It's a HUGE 1 BR apartment that we are going to convert into two with a removable wall. It's a little pricey, but it's in the exact building we've been eyeing for months now. The last time something opened up, it was rented before we were even able to drop off the application! We're going to do some work to it before we move in. I know it's crazy because we are renting, but if I'm going to be living somewhere it needs to have that 'home' feel and spending the extra money will be well worth it to me.

We plan on living there for a year -2 years tops and then we will buy a house (hopefully a little bit upstate, depending on jobs).

My FH bought a house in nj before we were dating so it made the decision to stay in jersey at least till we got married very easy. I'm hoping after we're married we can move closer to Long Island. once we're having babies I would love to be closer to my family but it's just so expensive. I worry I might a jersey girl for good lol.

North Brunswick. If we stay in jersey, I'd love to move to Bergen county in that area. We have some friends not too far from dumont!

We bought a house here on LI last year after 6 years of renting. Best thing ever. It's a small house, it needs some work, but it's aaaalllll ours!! I know it won't all get done over night, but we have 30 years, right? Lol. We have a daughter in school now, so it was important for me to plant some roots. I didn't have that growing up, my family lived like gypsies. Lol. So I really wanted it for my daughter. FH would ideally love to leave LI eventually, but I just can't. I love it here. I've lived a lot of places (see gypsy comment above) and I'm not ready to leave.
