QOTD 2.19.13

Anyone else find themselves obsessed with WEIRD aspects of the wedding?

I'm honestly am dragging my rear end to book major vendors but I'm obsessed with (this week) is the the music. Not the DJ but like specific songs! So here are some questions about music!

a. Are you walking down the aisle to the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride' or something else, what song is it!?

b. What song do you want for cutting the cake?

c. What do you want as your LAST song of the night?

See, random! This is what clouds my head these days!!

a. I definitely want something different. Right now I'm torn between walking (dancing) down the aisle to Bruno Mars' 'Marry You,' Darius Rucker's 'History in the Making,' or Billy Joel's 'She's got a way!'

b. My sister apparently has NEVER seen a cake cutting ceremony in her life. And it's not for the lack for wedding attending! We had this conversation the other night, I said I definitely do not want them to play Sugar, Sugar when the cake is being cut...I know a lot of people choose that but I march to my own drum and refuse! LOL I kinda am leaning towards Jason Mraz/Colbie Caillat's 'Lucky'

c. Again, I always thought it would be 'That's what friends are for' and we'd have that big circle at EVERY sweet 16 in the 90's...Then FMIL had that at hers and I KNEW I'd have to find another song. Since we're having a guitarist for our after party bonfire it's not REALLY our last song BUT I want it to be fun...Im honestly leaning towards the theme from Golden Girls...Who doesn't love that song!? Or Maybe the So Long Farewell song from the Sound of Music or N'Sync BYE BYE BYE...ok I'm done, now I'm thinking out loud!!

Ohhhh wait! I also have it in my head that I want dinner served to Beauty and the Beasts 'Be Our Guest'

Anyone have any ideas how to make my brain function normally when it comes to this wedding!?

Ok so I haven't even thought of this yet. Though I do love the idea of Be Our Guest being played while dinner is being served. I may steal your idea :) Walking down the aisle I want the traditional 'here comes the bride.' I dont know the cake cutting song yet & didnt even think of the last song. Great something else to think about! Thanks

Re: QOTD 2.19.13

OMG FH and I started compiling our playlist yesterday!

a. I haven't even considered doing something different. But I also feel like since I'm getting married in a church, I should just stick with the traditional Here Comes the Bride.

b. I like How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You, but this isn't set in stone. I'm exploring other options.

c. We're thinking The Rembrandts' 'I'll Be There For You,' but this also isn't set in stone.

QOTD 2.19.13

I'm right there with you girl!

1. Thinking Here comes the Bride since I'll be getting married in the church and it's very traditional, but I'd love to find something a little more unique
2. I jokingly told FH that we should cut the Cake to Rihanna's Birthday Cake song, but that may be a little too dirty for our family to handle.
3. I'm not sure yet but it's got to be something fun. Maybe Daft Punk Celebrate?

I also know what I want FH and I to walk in to for our introduction - It Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock.

QOTD 2.19.13

a. Are you walking down the aisle to the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride' or something else, what song is it!?
I'm probably going to use the traditional Here Comes the Bride (even though it's scary to me) or Canon in D but I feel like that's more of a bridesmaids processional.

b. What song do you want for cutting the cake?
As of right now...Next 2 You by Chris Brown & Justin Bieber

c. What do you want as your LAST song of the night?
Last song, has to be 'Forever Young' by Jay-Z...He's both of our all time favorite artists and the song is just so beautiful.

QOTD 2.19.13

1. Definitely Here Comes the Bride for me. My party will be walking down to Adele's version of Love Song.
2. FH wants to incorporate a Tool song into our wedding, so I think this part of our wedding might be his one and only chance.
3. Last song...no IDEA!!

Great question!

QOTD 2.19.13

A. Would love to walk down to Here Comes the Bride but not sure if the Church will do it. Alot of churches shy away from it and consider it a Pagan song.

B. Not sure yet which cake cutting song I actually forgot about that one.

C. I actually stole an idea on here from one of you not sure who but really thinking of Don't Stop Believing will be the last song.

Honestly i can't wait to pick out all the music that's all I keep thinking about. Lol.

Now I just got to find a DJ.

QOTD 2.19.13

A-I'm walking down to 'Book of Love' Peter Gabriel. My bridal party will walk to 'Stuck on You' Meiko.

B-I haven't talked about this with FH yet but some of the ones that are contenders in my mind are 'Better Together' or 'Banana Pancakes' by Jack Johnson, 'Question' by Rhett Miller.

C-This I have no clue on yet!

QOTD 2.19.13

A. I am a pretty huge Dave Matthews Band fan and found an awesome piano version of their song 'Crash', which I think I want my bridal party to walk down to, and then I want to walk down to 'All You Need Is Love' by the Beatles (think Love Actually without the choir). I haven't revealed this aspect of my wedding to anyone but you guys yet, congratulations! LOL

B. For cake cutting, I haven't decided, but I want it to be something fun, not stuffy or slow. Probably something along the lines of '(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry' or 'I Would Walk 500 Miles'. Something completely non-traditional (my mother is going to have a heart attack)

C. I don't want the last song of the wedding to be a 'last song'. I plan to have some sort of after party, even if it means taking over my parents' backyard and renting a keg and playing beer pong, so I want people to not feel like 'Oh, well that was the last song, now the party is OVER'.

Don't feel alone, I'm obsessed with the weird small aspects of the wedding too!! FH says I do it bc those are the fun things, and I hate dealing with the bigger things like booking vendors bc that's stressful. But I feel that it's the details that make the wedding unique!!

I TOTALLY wanted to do this for our closing song but we just went to a friend's wedding last June where this was done so I don't want to 'take' that, as ridiculous as my logic may be!
