I'm not necessarily making concessions to my in laws exactly...it's kind of the way things played out. I'm having an interfaith marriage (I'm Catholic & FH is Jewish). I asked his sisters to be my BMs. Because of that, I couldn't have my wedding on a Friday night or Saturday. Saturday night wouldn't have worked either because one of them wouldn't have been able to get ready until sundown. Getting married in a Church was always something I envisioned. Technically we could have gotten married in a Church, but in order to make everyone comfortable, we're having a priest and a rabbi come to the RH. We have to choose if the priest or rabbi will actually be the one to marry us.

Aside from the things that come with interfaith, I've been very fortunate with not having anyone be demanding. I chose whichever vendors I wanted within budget. I have a feeling that when the details come and the guest list is finalized, things might not be such smooth sailing!

We have been fortunate enough that all of the decisions are able to be made by just us. Neither family is very 'involved' -- they look at it as our day and what we want goes! And since we are paying for it ourselves, it is definitely all our decisions :)

Re: ***QOTD 2.27.13***

I haven't had any issues with my parents or FH's dad. This is our wedding and what we want and that is what we will get. FH's dad is the only one who contributed thus far and leaves us be to our own decisions. My mother and stepfather aren't really in the position to help so we accept that. My dad has plenty of money but is ridiculous. FH & I are paying the majority.

The only issue I really have had is with my MOH (sister) who is such an attention seeker and has struggled from the get go with my plans but OH WELL. We have gotten into massive fights because she can't stand the attention being off her which is utterly annoying. We were extremely close and throughout this process I have withdrawn from her a lot. I also had asked my stepfather and my father to walk down the aisle and my dad is a *** and told me he was uncomfortable (he can't stand my stepfather because we all love and adore him while my dad is a narcissist) and wouldn't walk me down the aisle but honestly I could care less. Whoever wants to be involved is, whoever doesn't oh well and until people cough up some $ I don't want to hear ****!

My parents have been great and doing pretty much all the plannin with me. Thy are paying for pretty much the whole wedding. My fil are not paying anything so they don't really have a say.the only thing is my mom really wanted me to get married in a church however with the fh not living here and having to convert and be baptized and all that she has settled on as long as I have someone religious marrying us.
Since they were paying for it I really always thought I would have a night time wedding but after seeing the price I opted for the daytime. Which will still be nice and this way I can get married outside in the gardens.

This x1000. We're also Catholic/Jewish and I ALWAYS imagined getting married in church (specifically the church I grew up going to and received all my other sacraments in). I'm not terribly religious, but the no church wedding is killing me. We're keeping religion out of it entirely by having a judge and we're also having a Saturday night (his family didn't mind- they're not very religious). I'm the MOH in a wedding at my childhood church in June and I told my parents 'don't skip the church, it's your only chance to see me go down that aisle!'

Other than that I've been very fortunate to have everything I want!

My parents and FH's parents have been very generous and are paying for the whole wedding. They have been super easy to deal with so far and are letting me and FH choose what we want.

I haven't encountered anything yet. My mom totally knows it our wedding and just loves being around for all the planning. I haven't had any issues with FH's parents. I'm hoping it continues to stay that way. I enjoy having everyone involved, BUT we ar epaying for it, so they don't have much say besides the guests they want to invite. I do however have one rule and it is that who ever they invite FH or I have had to meet them at least once in our lives. If we haven't they are not invited OR they will pay for them even if it fits into the number they are each allowed to invite. We feel no one should be there that we don't know.

This.

My parents are contributing a decent amount of money and so far we haven't had any offers from FHs parents..
With that being said, I think my mom probably has some ideas that she doesn't want to share with me in fear I would get mad at her, which isn't totally true, because if they were GOOD ideas or she had any sense of style or any good ideas in the past then maybe she would Actually suggest something not-dumb :) and I say this with a smile because I'm not being mean, she just has such an off sense of humor and doesn't 'get' any vision I have ever had.
And besides all that, my sister is pregnant with her first baby and my mom has been busy planning her shower while I have been booking all the 'big' stuff. She did come with us to the venue though. (And my dad isn't into any of this. He just goes for the food! Lol)

My mom is right off the boat from Italy and my dad from Greece, one thing i can't stand is how Greek people throw money at you during your first dance! I always hated it and even as a kid i remember thinking i didn't want anyone throwing money at me!! But to make my dad happy I'm sure it'll happen! My fmil on the other hand is a beast of a women who us trapped in 1960 and bc she's not paying a dime (she took back what she promised us when i got pregnant) we won't be taking any of her demands into account!
