What were your and FH's families reactions after he proposed????
First I need to preface this by saying: EVERYONE knew about it before hand for like two months. Friends and family. He had even shown them all the ring. I'm not sure how they kept it a secret, but they did a great job.
My mother started dragging me all over the house looking for the best lighting to see the ring in She helped him pick out the setting, but said she didn't want to see it again until it was on my hand. So she never saw the finished product until that night.
When I called my dad, his initial response was 'He did it already???? He's so stupid!!!!' I was like, ummmm why??? My dad told him to wait until Christmas to propose and he couldn't wait and did it the weekend before.
He called his parents right after and they were very excited. His mom tried calling me for three days after to congratulate me, but I'm barely ever home.
My sisters were very excited, his sister was ecstatic. I was on my cell phone with a friend when she called the house phone. She was talking to FH and then screamed 'Tell Laura to get off the phone so I can talk to her!!!!!!!!!!' His brother sent us each a facebook message

We were in Bermuda celebrating our 2 year Anniv., my parents knew his plans as he asked for their blessing before hand, and my parents were very excited! His family knew as well, basically both of our familes knew (just family - no friends)! I had no clue at all! Everyone were all very excited. Originally, FH was planning to propose the following day on a boat- but he was very nervous of all that could go wrong, so it happened a little bit earlier. So, my mom was very surprised to receive the exciting news a day early. He proposed at midnight going into our 2 year Anniv. Both of our families were super excited! When we arrived home, his family had a bunch of Congrat balloons on our door, it was really nice! My family had taken us out to dinner the day after we made it home and had all thses gifts and cute stuff all wrapped for us! Everyone was very happy & excited for us!

My mom and dad who were the last to find out cuz I couldn't find them were ecstatic. They both started crying and then they made me cry. My brother Dan was sooooo happy for me, he was practically screaming. And my brother John just called me crazy and wished me congrats and all that lol.
All of fh's family was really happy for us too. He mostly talked to them so I can't speak for what they actually said lol

Everyone was happy. They all knew it was coming becasue we were talking about it since about 6 months after we were dating. My family was jsut so happy that I was happy finally

My father hated my FH until the day I called him to say we were engaged. He actually got on the phone with my FH and apologized for all the years he put my FH through hell.. now they are like best friends.. go figure.
My mom and his parents had no real reaction. They all said they knew it was coming, they just didn't know when.

No one knew...they expected it would happen one day, but they didn't know. They were screaming and jumping (so they say - it was over the phone)... LOL. It was really great. When we returned from vacation (he proposed in Breckenridge, CO), my family had a little dinner with cake for us. It was really nice. My brother, who is in the Navy and stationed in the Middle East, wants to be my MOH... LOL. He wrote a speach to give at our wedding a day after hearing the news. He's 6 yrs younger, but like my best friend, so he had me in tears. It was just great.
