Ok, now down to business.
As I was driving to work today, I noticed that I forgot my ring at home (isn't that the worst?!?) so it got me thinking about all of our gorgeous rings. So today's QOTD is:
Did you help pick out your ring? Did you go ring shopping with FH, leave pictures of your dream ring lying around, or did FH pick it out on his own?

it is my grandmother's...we looked at rings, but im strange and anti diamonds because of blood diamonds....so while we were looking, I didn't want diamonds for that reason, but i started liking the way they look! my grandmother's was left for me and it was the style i like, so i said to him to just use that. it worked out!

I left pictures of my dream ring all over...I would leave it on the computer screen, text him pics of it, etc. I never tried it on before I got it, but I just knew it was 'my ring.' FH brought the picture to the jeweler and said 'ok, we need to make this exact ring' lol...and she did! i'm so sad to be without it today!!

I'm so sorry you forgot your ring. I sometimes do that too b/c I don't really wear it when i'm doing things around the house.
My FH asked me what I liked as far as shape of stones, and bands. So I only told him I wanted an emerald cut in white gold. He designed the rest on his own and it came out amazing!!

FH was all set to pick it out himself, but then my recently engaged friend was telling us a story about her ring adventure, which she and her FH got custom made together, and it freaked him out that maybe I wouldn't like what he picked. So after 'the talk' we did some shopping together and ended up getting one made in the style I wanted with an opal that we picked out together (opals are my favorite stone, and birthstone). I'm sure he would have picked something beautiful on his own, but it wouldn't have been even close to what I ended up with so I'm kind of glad we did it this way.

I told FH that I wanted a cushion cut e-ring with the halo of diamonds around it. I sent him three pictures of different halo-style rings to give him inspiration, but not limit him. He went to the jeweler by himself (so proud!) and picked the ring out. He did an AMAZING job. Far exceeded my wildest expectations.

OMG how funny..I forgot my ring today too!!!!!!
I didn't help FH at all. I had told him that I wanted a round or cushion cut and a high setting but he did everything else with my brother and it's PERFECT!!! I love it! And I miss my ring today too, I feel naked!

I picked out 5 rings. We waited so long to 'officially' get engaged that I would see a new ring and say um I want that.
finally, I picked one out and then lost 90 lbs and the rings looked HUGE on me so I changed my mind again...and I found a pave wedding band I fell in love w and the other ring looked weird w it so I changed it.
So technically i was engaged for 4 years lol.
and I shouldn't even say this, but I'm changing my diamond. We looked at a few and I chose one and FH wants the bigger one now so we shall see.

I had a fake version my friend bought me as a joke 2 or 3 years before we got engaged- so he knew what I wanted...and came home with something different. My first engagement ring had a cracked diamond, so we picked out a setting together and his mom gave us one of her diamonds that she brought over from Russia.....and he came home with something different again! Its a pretty ring, but I told him I am picking out my own wedding band- and my engagement ring is going in a box until we have our daughters

I'd like to say that I let FH pick something out and he did wonderful...but that is SOOOO not the case. I knew that I wanted a 3 stone Emerald cut in white gold and by golly, I made sure he knew too!! I mean let's be honest...we have to wear this thing EVERYDAY for the rest of our lives...I wanted something I would never get tired of looking at!

I never really discussed with FH what kind of ring I wanted. FSIL actually tricked me into finding out what kind of ring I liked so she could report back to FH so he could go buy it lol.

We went to a jewelry store looking for watches and I was obviously looking at rings while we were there LoL... FH walked over and started asking what type I liked.. I showed him so he had an idea. But when it came time he picked it all out on his own and it is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined

FH took me shopping, under the guise of pant shopping, and we ended up spending the whole day looking at rings. He then took what size/designs we found and liked and tweaked them. So he designed the ring based on what we both like and came out with the most gorgeous ring ever (not that I'm biased or anything )

I told FH what I preferred which are pave settings (square or rectangular) and diamonds that are not set high. He made the final choice and I was soooo proud of him. He really listened to what I wanted and even surprised me a little by choosing a radiant cut which blings like crazy

i love to hear all of these stories! i think it's so amazing that some FHs picked out the rings all by themselves and hit it out of the park!
can we do an update and post pics of our rings too? i want to see all the pretty bling
after we were together for one year, FH asked me to start looking around for rings that i liekd and to e-mail him or show him pictures of what i liked. after i showed him a few that i liked, he said to find a jeweler that sold the brand, Veraggio, that I fell in love with. I did, and we went there and i tried on all of the rings that i liked and the FH wanted to see me try on as well. We both fell in love with the same one. I knew what FH's budget was, so i knew he would have enough for everything, but he picked out the stone. I have to wear it for the rest of my life, so i wanted to LOVE it, and I was engaged once before, and i had no say in my ring, and I HATED it, so i didn't want that to happen again. We both liked that we picked it out together

I kind of went back and forth with what I wanted and at the end of the day, he picked something out and I LOVE IT!!! I wanted something from him, that he picked out with his time and thoughts...not just something that I handed to him!!! I love it!!

I basically gave him one condition...that it couldn't be high set because I need to fit gloves over it every day in the lab. Other than that, he was on his own. and boy did he do a good job!!!

I told FH that I wanted either princess or round cut in white gold or platinum since I don't wear yellow gold. So fh went out on his own and picked out my ring. He did some research at home on-line first and then went to the place he wanted to buy it and saw my ring in the case and bought it! He did a fantastic job!
