Ok, now down to business.
As I was driving to work today, I noticed that I forgot my ring at home (isn't that the worst?!?) so it got me thinking about all of our gorgeous rings. So today's QOTD is:
Did you help pick out your ring? Did you go ring shopping with FH, leave pictures of your dream ring lying around, or did FH pick it out on his own?

I had showed him a picture of the ring i waited casually one day.. (basically joking because we didnt really discuss getting engaged prior) He gave me a million and one reasons why he didnt like my ring of choice!! The main reason was he said a wedding band will not go well with the ring and it would have to go on my other hand.
About two days later we were driving around and ended up at his jeweler! He wanted to 'show me' that the band wouldnt work with this ring.. well he was absolutely right. While we were there he showed me a different ring , that he loved- I fell in love with it. We left, and i thought nothing of it.. Well he put a deposit on the ring that night and proposed 3 weeks later. They custom created it for him.
I didnt know he had been looking at rings all along, found the one he loved and knew i had to have it. He basically created the ring himself... GREAT JOB!!!!!!

i picked out a ring but..... in the end FH got my grandmothers from my aunt!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT AN AWESOME SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

FH never even asked what i wanted!! He didnt care- (not in a mean way) He knew I would love what ever he got me. Originally i thought i would want the princess cut diamond with the little stones all around. Thats not what i got. I need to upload a pick. I loveeee my ring!!! His parents flew up from FLA while i was in FLA with my family. They flew up the diamond which was his great aunts. They got it set. It is perfect!! He never even asked my ring size!! I couldn't figure out how he even knew!! I only have one other ring. All my x's rings i got rid of and i have 2 claddah rings. One is white gold that i NEVER take off unless i am wearing gold and swap it with my gold one. I am pretty sure he doesn't even know where i keep it since i hide it so i don't lose it. He asked my mom and she had no idea so she had someone at work ask to see my claddah ring and guess. Thank god they were right!! I love my ring and am glad we didn't go together because it made it that much more special that he thought this was the perfect ring for me!!!
** i know there has been tension lately!!! I am not saying there is anything wrong going!! I think thats awesome too- especially girls that know exactlyyyy what they want. I just didn't really care!
Everyones rings are perfect for them-- i mean come on look who they came from!!

FH knew exactly what I wanted - how could he not? i kept on emailing him pictures of it and he got my ring replicated to this ring that i found from a vegas jeweler. Although i have started telling ppl that he picked it out himself b/c everybody keeps on telling me what good taste he has and i don't want to take that away from my baby

My ring belonged to my grandmother. And after she passed away last summer my mom and my aunts gave it to FH to give to me.

We went together looking and agreed on a 3 stone ring. I tried on different sizes of it and we fell in loe with mine. But as far as I knew FH had no$ saved so I didn't expect it until the following year sometime..but he surprised me 2 months later on Christmas Day!!

that's amazing that FH went through such a long process to make sure he was getting the perfect ring for you!
He's definitely a keeper The color is really dependent on the lighting -- it's amazingly bright blue in sunlight and jewelry store-type lighting and can look almost colorless in dimmer settings.
Let's see if I can get these pictures to work... you'd never know but the upper left hand corner of the 2nd pic is the Miraflores lock of the Panama Canal. The 3rd pic isn't actually mine, but it's pretty close!

Good question.
My story is funny and accidently perfect! (sry it's a little long)
My brother and his now FW have talked several times about getting engaged and she was dropping hints like no tomorrow, LOL What she didn't know was my brother was planning on proposing for their anniversary. The whole time shes like AGGHH! Why hasn't he asked already! WHEN I knew the whole time what was going on.... Because my brother only started to look at rings I didn't say anything to anyone, including my now FH.
So one weekend my brothers girlfriend (now FW) told me 'We're going shopping' that she's 'tired on waiting and wants to try on some rings' I looked at her and was like.... 'We're doing what!' A few weeks later we were OOT for a few days and had some time to kill so.... we went shopping! The whole time i was 'ehh' to tell my now FH what we were doing. I was afraid he was going to think...'Your doing what and why? I didn't want him to think I was hint dropping, b/c i was not.
What's the funny part?
Later that night I emailed my brother a photo of the ring she liked AND she emailed my now FH a picture on the ring I liked. TURNS OUT the whole 'lets go ring shopping' was her way of getting me to the store. She was working with my now FH to find out the style i wanted.
Keep in mind...my (now FH) doesn't know my brother was ring shopping AND my brother doesn't know my (now FH) was ALSO ring shopping...
So time goes by, plans are set, rings are bought and the FH's finally clued another in and SURPRISE they both had planned to propose a WEEK apart!!
Afterwards my FH laughs... he's like seriouslly out of ALL the rings to pick you picked a ring from a jewerler that was NOT located anywhere near NY and was the LAST ring in the company!? Luckly he had a picture of the ring and had it custom made.
Sorry for the long post - I love the back story to how we got engaged. FH did an awesome job!!
