Good morning & Happy Saturday!! So today's QOTD is all about the bling!
Did FH pick your engagement ring all on his own, did you pick it out, or did you drop hints of what you wanted? Also- for your wedding ring did you pick it out yet? what do you want it to look like?
I only let FH know the type of cut I wanted (round cut) and the rest he did all on his own, well he went with his brother & our good friend since they know what quality of diamonds to look for. He did an amazing job picking a perfect ring, something that I love and wouldn't want to change..well..eventually upgrade but not until one of our milestone anniversaries LOL.
As far as wedding ring I'm not sure if I want a white gold or platnum ring for him, and for myself I want a diamond eternity ring in a common prong setting in platinum.

FH designed it all on his own. My uncle hooked him up with a friend of his who is a diamond setter in the city. (my uncle used to be in the business) They had 4 diamonds delivered to my uncles house. They inspected them and FH picked mine. He then took it to the city (on the A Train in his pocket!) and picked out the band and prongs. It is a total custom piece. I didn't have any say, in fact I didn't even think he had a ring. The only thing I had told him was I wanted a round stone, not a plain band, and no halo.
For the wedding band we will be going back to the same guy and have a custom ring made to match my engagement ring band exactly.

I literally saw the ring I wanted, showed it to him. Told him if he didn't buy it for me I was going to buy it myself.

He knew I always wanted a round solitaire. My sister knew this too! He wound up taking his mom, my mom and my sister. Picked out the perfect diamond and perfect setting for me. Said to me that if my sister wasn't there he would have added two other diamonds on each side. Told him I'm glad she was b/c I'd have returned it!! I'm a simple kinda girl. As for my wedding band, I have my heart set on a black (yes, black) tungsten ring!
He asked me if I wanted to design my ring and I said no. All I really wanted was a princess cut, and he did the rest on his own. He did a great job
We haven't even thought about wedding bands yet, but we'll probably start at the same place he got my ring. I'm clueless with jewelry, so I just want it to match my engagement ring and not overpower it.

All I told fh was I wanted a round stone. He did the rest on his own. For a wedding band I know I don't want an eternity band. I want sonething wth some sort of design and a minimal amount of bling. My engagement ring is blingy enough. Plus I don't wanna spend a crazy amount on rings.

I totally picked what I wanted but I wasn't there when he bought it and I didn't know he was going to pop the question when he did! I knew I just wanted a solitaire, round. Although I may be getting my stone replaced before the wedding and I may go square! not sure :)
wedding bands we both have been looking around but I want an eternity band and I've been looking at some really unique designs for FH.
I picked it out myself. He told me he wanted me to pick it out since its going to be on my finger forever. At first I was like... 'Well I'll show you what I want and then you can pick...' and then everything I was picking out was so different from each other he said he got confused lol.
So.. .I was at my jeweler getting one of my rings resized and cleaned so I was just looking and I found my ring :) I told my jeweler to hold it and we went back about two weeks later and he bought it! Then... almost 5 months later he finally proposed lol
I picked my ring because when I tried it on I had a physical reaction to it. I almost started crying and its perfect. Its an antique vintage ring with beautiful metal work with 6 small diamonds around 1 main diamond. I chose it because my grandmothers wedding band (which I wear every day) also has 7 diamonds and I just felt like it was meant to be.
As far as my wedding band... I want a replica of my grandmothers ring made to fit my e-ring :)

Actually kind of funny, I found out that FH had ALREADY bought a ring for me and it was hidden in his room. He was going to propose to me... But I had saw the ring I wanted and was so excited that I loved the ring, he had to return the ring he originally bought. So glad I found the ring I wanted in time. Or I would have been stuck with the ring he picked out.

I knew that FH had been waiting for his tax returns so that he could buy me a ring. So I looked online, and showed him a few styles I liked. I let him handle the rest on his own. The diamond itself belonged to his great-grandmother, and he chose a beautiful setting. Even his mom and grandma (who worked in jewelry for years) loved his choice.
As for the wedding rings, I know I want a thin band since my engagement ring has a thick band. It will probably be custom made to fit my ring and have diamonds to match the ones on my e-ring's band. As for FH, he seems to know what he wants, I'm sure he'll pick one out for himself when we go ring shopping.

My fiancé actually purposed with a ring pop and wanted to give me option to choose my own ring. I told him I didn't want to choose and wanted him to choose it himself and surprise me. I told him I have no preference and something simple is fine. In honesty, I'm not a jewelry person and have no clue what I want. He has a friend what works in the diamond industry and helped him out and got in touch with a designer who designs for Tiffany. He choose the stone, setting, and band! He recently just surprised me with the ring and I was absolutely in love with it. It's a round solitaire with 6 prongs. I was so impressed. I had to wait a bit.. 3 months to be exact but it was worth it! It's perfect! He also engraved this 'I want to grow old with you 03/03/13'. I was so touched and of course I cried!! =)

For a few months before our engagement, we were looking at rings on all different websites just to get an idea. I had no idea that he actually HAD the ring in his possession on some of those days :) I absolutely love my ring, and it's just like the ones we looked at, since they all had a similar look to them. My FSIL supplied the ring since she works for a jeweler. She has my matching band in stock, but I found another one that I love even more than the one that matches my ring. I have no way to explain it, it's kind of tiered raised diamonds instead of straight across and channeled.

I told FH that I wanted a cushion cut with a halo. Originally I told him that I wanted a more square cushion cut but he ended up getting me a more rectangular stone. I'm so happy that he did that because it fits my setting perfectly. So my ring is kinda a combo of what we both like!
As for my wedding ring, I'm going back to the same jeweler. The ring has an antique look with diamonds all along three sides of the band.

I had shown FH pictures of rings I liked, although we were not talking marriage yet I'm a girl so hey I like to look, however when FH went he picked something completely different out (honestly I didn't think we could ever afford the ring he picked out so I always looked at less expensive rings lol).
He designed it himself, but had approval of my sister who he sent pictures to during the process. So aside from him going along with me saying I wanted something different, and something vintage looking, he decided on everything else himself! He did a good job! lol
For my band, I am still on the fence. I want something nice and that can stand alone, but also not clash with my e-ring which has a split shank so it takes up a lot of my finger. The Halo on my e-ring is round brilliants so I know I want my band to have the same kind of diamonds, just haven't found a band that felt like 'the one'. The band that FH favors I am now thinking may be a bit over the top..We still have time so when I next go back I will try on different ones for sure.

FH knows me so well and knows that I am traditional and simple. He picked out my ring a my himself and am in love with my ring! Simple solitaire and couldn't be happier. We already picked out or bands and I picked an antique eternity band.

I originally showed him pictures of styles but when we went to try them on all of them looked ridiculous on my tiny finger lol. So I found one that I liked and said either this one or something close to it. I did not know when he was going to buy it or how he was going to propose.
