QOTD 7/15/08

Ok I have to post these early for the rest of the week b/c I have to go to work and get no internet :(. Ok soo as we all know when we get married we also lose our last name. Im going to be sad as happy as I am to have FH's last name Im 100% italian and hes german and Irish lol. SO I guess my question is ..how does everyone feel about the name change, is everyone doing it , or is anyone doing it where its hypphinated????

like I said its going to be like bitter sweet for me. Once you change your name its like wow that part of my life is over its just weird. I joke with him all the time telling him I wanna keep my italian last name and his responce is: Theres the door if you dont want my lasr name lolllll

I'm excited to share his last name, but also sad that I'm losing mine. It's who I've been for 28 yrs so it's kinda sad. Like you said, it's bittersweet.

It makes me a little sad, but luckily his name isn't too bad. But my sister and I are the last ones in our family with this name (my dad has 5 sisters and 1 brother who never got married) so no one else will pass the name on!

My friends say they're still going to use my last name though bc it's always been my nickname.

I have such mixed opinions about this. Several years ago I was ok with changing my name. Right when I met FH, I had gotten to that point where I was comfortable with who I was. Not still searching for someone. Ok with being single, etc. I'm me and that's my name. To change it seems so awkward. I tease him about changing his last name instead. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do. I think he is ok with whatever my decision will be.

I can't wait to change my name, but am a little sad about it. But I can't wait to be his family and share his name. It's gonna be funny though cause my first name is Marybeth and he is Cuban and has a very spanish last name, so I'm not sure it goes all that well together. But I'm still so excited!!!

Well i love his last name its just as Italian as mine. So thats not a problem i just think i may hyphenate in the beginning because it makes it easier then i will go fully to his.

Dan and I are both Italian so I get to keep the Italian name. I like his name better than mine!!

I have strong feelings on why a woman should take her husbands name...only because when we are born.. most of us took our fathers names and if our dads are good enough..then why not the men we want to be the fathers of our kids..but i wont get into to all that. My bew name is going to be TOTALLY IRISH....which i love but I will miss my dads name which is Croatian because I am very proud of my heritage. dad came here as a boy and I am always rpoud to say what my natiobality is when someone asks after hearing my name..they wont ask anymore....

I have an italian last name which I like...and I will be changing to an English/german last name... 'Drinkwater'...imagine how i feel about that lol

I am so sad! I love my last name , everyone calls me by first and last name bc it sounds cool. oh well I am just adding my last name , I will be like nicole richies kid and have 4 names :)

I don't mind changing my last names because I like his. However, it makes me a little sad and annoyed because if I go for my PhD I will be Dr.(his last name) and not my own.

i am excited! My last name is Martin and its SOOOO common..... So this will be pretty exciting! I can't wait to get my sweatshirt that says 'The New Mrs. ________'!!!!!!

I don't mind changing my last name even though it is bittersweet...the name ends here for my dad .....only problem is that FH last name is sooooo short...and I am used to my long last name...when I write it my hand wants to keep going..

at least it's still Spanish even though he's Portuguese....
