My grandmother annoys me the most out of everyone. She has a special bug up her @$$ for me so this whole planning process was almost ruined by her and her getting my mom on her side and ganging up on me about everything!
-Me wanting a red velvet cake instead of chocolate which my dad wanted so she told me I was being selfish because if my dad wanted chocolate everyone else would want chocolate too and how could I not think of my guests? Keep in mind the only cake I actually like is red velvet. I want to eat my wedding cake and enjoy it! (And I know several people in our family like it, or won't care, including my dad).
-Me wanting real flowers on my cake, that's selfish because it's an outlandish cost that is too much money...um $35 out of my own pocket?!
-Me wanting a photographer in general, because pictures are useless. We can just take a few ourselves.
-Me initially wanting to have a shorter non-traditional reception so the BP and FH and I can go down to the city to go clubbing. That was scratched because FH and I decided against it, but obviously, everything I do is selfish including wanting to continue celebrating my marriage.
-Me picking out my BM dresses and not paying for it. Because If I pick them out I should pay for it otherwise I'm asking too much of them, meanwhile all of my BMs love the dress and feel that they should pay for it (including new shoes and a purse).
-Asking my parents to pay when not taking into consideration their opinions on things. My dad could care less what I do and my mom and I have totally different tastes. She's earthy-hippie and I'm classic-50s vintage. She would DIY everything including my veil and CPs. My mom and I had a discussion and eventually decided she didn't care what we got as long as it wasn't $$$$.
-Having an Eparty. It's a family BBQ is our backyard, but I'm asking too much of my parents and shouldn't have had it at all.
-Having a gift registry at Crate and Barrel, that store is too expensive and she won't buy us anything from there because we could go anywhere else and get it for cheaper (which is actually a lie for the majority of the things on there, we have one at BBB and I've price compared).
-Changing my religion from Catholicism to Episcopalian, because apparently I don't believe in God and why am I going to church just to get married? When in reality she knows I've had an issue with the CATHOLIC church for years and we want to raise our children in something, so we decided to covert now rather than be uncomfortable with a priest we don't agree with and have more issues because of a million logistical and fundamental reasons.
-Getting married in January. It works best with both of our school schedule and we're saving my parents money. But it's selfish to ask people to go to a wedding when it
might snow, even though it hasn't snowed in January (that would warrant canceling a wedding) since 1996 and the last 5 years have been unseasonable warm in January.
-Me in general, FH is too good for me. I shouldn't be getting married because I am selfish and FH will get sick of my 'antics' and leave me, or hit me. ?!!?!?!? ******?!?!?!?!?
I could go on. I have stopped talking about the wedding in general around her because NOTHING I do is right.
Sorry that turned out so long, I think I just needed to vent.
