My veil is cathedral length. I want so badly to post a pic but I can't find one online.

Re: QOTD: What length is your veil and how did you decide?
My dress is very simple so I want a chapel or cathedral length veil to make it a little more eleborate. I am not doing a tiara either, just hair pins so the veil would be the highlight. I have no detailing on my skirt at all so it won't hide anything.

good question deb.
i was all about the silk tulle until i bought my dress and it came with a veil that made the whole ensemble just 'work.'
it is a mantilla cathedral length, and the edging matches the lace on the dress, they are both ivory.
i look like i should be getting married in Italy or Spain! I am wearing it for pre-pics and ceremony, and then taking it off and putting a gardenia behing my ear for the reception.![]()
Bunny -- you are going to be SUCH a beautiful bride!
You are sweet...You are going to be an incredibly glamarous fashionista of a bride in that dress!
Cool thought: I have seen pics of so many weddings up on BHB and thought 'oh, how pretty she is', or whatever, but have no clue WHO she is. In a short while, we will get to see pics of each others weddings all complete in their vision and really knowing what went into the wedding! I think I will feel all mom-ish and 'proud' when those days start to roll in 05!!
okay, back to veils.

Bunny--that sounds perfect!! It's really funny because I tried on a gorgeous dress with a mantilla veil and told my 2 BMs how I loved the look and it would be perfect for getting married at Raphael's!It has such great Spanish-style architecture and woodwork.
jennie- for serious? I love that!! Yes, we are hoping our guests feel sort of transported in time and space after our wedding in Spain. Hey, for us, it was the 'farthest' thing from NYC - and that is what we love!
btw, your veil sounds perfect with your dress. really.

Re: QOTD: What length is your veil and how did you decide?
I read somewhere (I forgot where) that your veil should fall to where the most detail is on your dress since the veil will bring the eye to the work. My detail is concentrated on the skirt part, so I will wear a very sheer silk tulle (hopefully) cathedral length for the ceremony, along with an elbow or fingertip length and a blusher, I will only wear the elbow or fingertip length during the reception . . .

Re: QOTD: What length is your veil and how did you decide?
My veil will probably be fingertip or maybe elbow... I always loved the look of cathedral as well but it just didn't look right with my dress.I'm really unsure whether or not I want a finished or unfinished edge... with unfinished I feel like it's almost more flowy, that there's no 'ending' to it...but I think edging (a rolled edge probably) is pretty as well. Any thoughts on this?

Re: QOTD: What length is your veil and how did you decide?
My dress had a lot going on (very elaborate on the back of the dress) so as much as I dreamed of having a cathedral length veil, I ended up with a finger tip. the cathedral was too much with my dress and covered all the beautiful beadwork on the back. I absolutly loved my fingertip veil once I tried it with my dress. BTW: I'm 5'4.'have you tried a Mantilla (sp?). You know the lacy thing that just is pinned to your head? that may look nice with your dress (which btw is stunning!)

Re: QOTD: What length is your veil and how did you decide?
Thanks Tonia. The mantilla I tried was shorter -- I just did not love how it lay on me. I feel like lace on veil again was sort of overpowering but I know what you are describing and it is a great idea.Welcome New Vendors
