I herd Sylvia's was between $8- 12.

Is $8-12 a good price for a slice, I have no idea what a cake goes for, do all of the bakers price by slice, how about like in the hundreds or whatever, like ok here is a cake it goes for $500??????

well colette has a minimum of $600. for fondant that is about average, well average is actually $6-8 a slice and yes they charge by the slice. IN LI you can find some places for less, the cheapest i found was $4.25 a slice in suffolk county. For e-party i must've called seriously at least 50 bakeries throughout the city and these were the prices, mostly $6-7 a slice, and i mean queens and brooklyn too. There is a guy on queens blvd who is real good and has gorgeous cakes, and he charges $7

in the end i just decided to get whatever cake clm gives and save the fondant cake for the wedding

$600 for the whole cake? If thats the case then thats a good price. Do you think I can go to a tasting at Sylvia W, so I can try her cakes?or anyone elses. My sis is dying to go cakes tasting with me, lolol

ohhh so its the price per slice x the amount of people she is making the cake for , like lets say 250 x 20=5000 woah

thats for a small cake though keep that in mind...the $600 is just a minimum, colette wont take orders that come out to less than $600 and that only feeds 75 people and that would also mean a simple cake. Yes you can make appointments at these places...ALL the cakes at every place that sells fondant charges by the slice

Re: Queens Bakeries???

Thanks, def good for me to know bec I have no idea how much these things go for. I have to get a good/inexpensive baker, Im afraid the cake I want will cost me a fortune if I go with any city bakers

honestly, with ppl like colette peters, sylvia weinstock you are likely to pay around $2000 and up. When they say $8-12 then $8 is for simple fondant cakes, so expect more like at least $10 a slice. If you get one for 200 people and keep it simple it can be around $1500. How many guests are you having?

and its not just the city, even in queens brooklyn and Li but their average was less $6-8 a slice...some places in LI i found for $4.25-6 a slice

Like over 250, maybe close to 300, hope not, lol. Just a simple white cake, 5 layers, like cake #1 in my album with that design with that satin & crystal lining as of now, I may change my mind later and want something else

well even if they would charge the lowest at $8 it would come out to $2,000 for 250 guests and $2,400 for 300 guests. That does have alot of details so not 100% sure if it would only be $8 a slice. You could talk to them about making sheetcake to serve to your guests and only making one of the layers real and the rest models of the cake you cant cut into, this comes out cheaper
