Not to change the subject but white vinegar helps to get out yellowing and is safe on all fabrics. Make sure to test it on a small piece of the fabric just to be sure.
Very True!! It does work well!!

Re: Question
It has been two days since this was posted, and I am still floored at how incredibly rude and innapropriate Laur22 was in her comment.
I actually let it eat away at me for the past two days.
Are you a sociopath? Seriously. I have never heard such brutal insensitivity in my life.
I am furious that there are people in this world like this. You need help.

Re: Question
Laur22, I don't mean to be a b!tch but... your comment was completely b!tchy, uncalled for and so hurtful to ME, let alone the original poster.

Re: Question
Who cares if it's yellow ? Who cares if it's brown, it's your mom's wedding gown and I think that's awesome ! .....But, you could try Oxyclean. - cut maybe a small piece and test it..........

Re: Question
I think it is a wonderful idea and I have heard of many people doing this!! I wish my mother or grandmother still had her dress so I could have done the same!!

Re: Question
I think it is a great idea also. You can incorporate it anyway you want. The pillow is a great idea. I like the fact of the fading and the yellow tint to it-it shows its old and remembered for the way it is, just like your mom. I am so sorry for your loss and sorry some people do not know how to be nice

Posted by DebMaher . As for the comment made by the second person to post here, Laur 22, and I really really am not one to stir controversy and I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think your comment was wildly inappropriate. Grief and remembering/paying tribute to someone is personal and not something that should be judged or devalued. Since your comment did not really add any helpful suggestions, perhaps you might have held the thought rather than question someone you do not know; why belittle it if it makes someone else happy. Perhaps the storage of a dress is not practical or is not able to be used as a complete object. Maybe the memories of her mother are strong enough not to need to hang on to a dress as a reminder. I don't know, but then again, neither do you. I have had many friends have their dresses turned into baptismal clothing for their children; is this really so different? Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that if you do not have anything nice to say, maybe the best thing is to say nothing.
Thank you for stating what I felt I could not in appropriate words.
Well put. I also did not have the right words for this. You are so right that sometimes the dress on a whole can not be used but you want to. I know someone who wore her mom's dress and it started to unravel at the reception!
Thank god you found nice way to put it b/c the way I would have worded it would have caused some problems,
I think its a great way to incorporate your mother please don't let the comments of the ignorant prevent your plans, the cleaners I'm sure can fix the yellowing and if not than I'd use it anyhow, it will look antique and its a beautiful gesture.

Re: Question
If it's yellow, brown, held together by bare strands of thread...I say go with it! It'll be beautiful and all the more authentic and touching in its natural state

Wow you can say that again, Laur22 what an awful awful thing to say. Shame on you.
