So FH and I are trying to book our honeymoon to hawaii.... i have questions about some flights
1. Has anyone taken us air? FH is against taking it .. he says he heard lots of bad reviews about it
2. Has any taken the non stop continental flight from newark to hawaii.. this is what FH wants to do.. but i dont know how i feel about the non stop situation.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
Im sorry I am no help with the non stop flights or US air.
But, I do have a suggestion, a friend of mine went to Hawaii for HM and instead of doing the lay over deal, she flew to San Diego, spent 3 days there, then had a relatively short flight to Hawaii.

We took US air to Hawaii-BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!! We had a layover in Arizona and they grounded all flights to hawaii because of some 'instrument' problem. Meanwhile President Bush had just arrived in Hawaii (I think that was the real reason). They kept pushing the flight back and back and back. And they don't serve food on the flight (you can buy it). I wouldn't fly with them. I would fly the non-stop if you can.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
We are flying Delta with a layover. We felt the direct flight was way for long for us to be on a plane without a break.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
I've done the Contiental direct from Newark. I recommend it, yes....it's a long flight but you are protected against delays due to weather or equiptment that can occur with a layover.
Also...Continental over US AIr ANYDAY. I would side with FH on this one. I've actually done this flight twice (for work- not for fun ) and slept, watched movies ect. Not bad at all. Check out the type of plane- if it's a Boeing 777, you're in for a treat. That may help you get more comfortable with the idea.

How many hours is the direct flight? I haven't started looking into it yet. I think I'd rather jsut get it over with and get there! I've done 12 hour flights before...you just gotta psych yourself up for it.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
Nonstop would be long. I would think they would have to ground themselves anyhow to refuel.
We are flying American on my dad's FF miles. American isn't my favorite airline but I have never had an issue with it.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
I actually just booked my flights yesterday
We are flying from newark to Chicago and then Chicago to Hawaii...We got a great deal for first class the entire time on United.
Its also over $1400 cheaper if you leave from newark rather than jfk.
We got 2 first class round trip tickets for under $4 grand. Last week they were over $6 grand a piece for first class!
FM if you want more details

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
DON'T DO IT!!! We took US air to Vegas and it was by far the WORST flight i've ever been on. I didn't even know, but afterwards everyone told me and FH we were crazy to book with them. We were delayed a ton for no reason at all. I will never ever fly US airs again if i can possibly avoid it.
umm, i think today is a sign, don't book US air!!!!!!!

yea i can't believe it!!! so we decided US air is DEF out!!!!! but im nervous about the nonstop flight.. i like that i dont have to worry about transfering and possible missing our connecting flight.. but at the same time.. i never been on a plane for that many hours in a row!

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
We went through Chicago on the way their and through LA on the way back. NY to Chicago was fine. Chicago to Hawaii was LONG!!! It was much better through LA on the way back. I would recommend a lay over through LA. We also flew out of Newark. WAY cheaper than JFK or LGA.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
Our American flights go through LAX, which is a good layover place for Hawaii and the most common. Non-stop is good, but its 10 hours in the air, non-stop. I am actually happy to get off and go to the bathroom.

Re: Question about flights to HAwaii
We're taking American Airlines and stopping in LA. We have coach but my uncles works for AA so i hope he can upgrade us to 1st class. He got my sister business class on her honeymoon because there was military on the flight and they got upgraded before her!
