Same here....approaching 32 this june
I never even thoguht I wanted to get married, but here I am, so I have a feeling I will change my mind about not having kids too. I am also afraid that I will change my mind too late.
But then again you hear of how much more common it is becoming to begin having children later in life.
I just don't know

Re: Question about Having Children?
I surprised myself by going through a phase where I was really questioning myself. It worried me a little because I know DH wants them. I've gotten back to thinking that I'm exited about the idea, but we won't TTC till at least the end of this year. I think I just hate that I feel rushed- I'm 33 already so we won't wait TOO long, but we also only just got married a few months ago. I envy people who were able to have several years together before kids. DH and I have so much fun together and do lots of things that will be on hold for a while when we do have kids. That said, I can't see myself going through extraordinary means to have kids should it not happen easily.

Same thing - 32 in July - I just don't feel ready - not financially, no house...and even though people say it's 'ok' - I don't want to have my first child at 40!!

Re: Question about Having Children?
for me, it isn't that i don't want children. rather, it is that i am worried about a couple of things that makes me wonder if i would be a good mom1. $ no, you're never ready financially, but still, i don't want to be impoverished either
2. not that we do a lot, but where will i find time to take a shower or make dinner or clean or iron or do laundry or tweeze my brows or other stupid stuff that i take for granted now and will i let myself fall to $h!t b/c i won't have time to take care of who i am? stupid, but i wonder who i will become and that scares me.
however, i want to be a good mom and that requires a lot and i don't know if i have that to give right now. maybe if we got pg, it would just appear, but there are so many things that i worry about.

Re: Question about Having Children?
im in the same boat i will be 33 in april and i just dont know if i want to have children. im so undecided and confused about this subject and my dh is so laid back about it and is leaving the choice up to me i honestly think he would be happy either way which makes me a little sad in a way. but like melani i didnt think i ever wanted to get married and here i am a year later so i may change my mind and finally feel that maternal instinct that i really wish i had right now

Re: Question about Having Children?
I am 26 but have absolutely no desire to have children. Everyone else seems to know that they want kids. I know that I am still young and all but I would have thought I would have some desire to have children in the future and I do not. Also, I have been married for less than a year and I am sick of people asking me when we are having a baby.

I personally think that is the rudest thing. People are still asking me even though I have told people repeatedly not to hold their breath

See - I think a lot of us 'older' newlyweds are feeling like we wish we were still mid (or late) 20's and could have a few years without trying. Scary thing is, NO ONE asks when I'm having kids!! I know my dad wants to ask - but he knows I'll get annoyed!

Re: Question about Having Children?
I go back and fourth all the damn time. I know that I want them, but I am scared that I will never feel like it is time to have them. DH and I always say 'in the future'...but I thought we would talk more seriously about it by now. We just arent there yet...dont know when we will be.

I agree with this. I want time to be selfish, to travel, to sleep late on weekends, to decide to shop on the way home and not feel bad about spending $150 getting my hair done....I think I will eventually, and it scares me more that my DH says he might never want them because his reasons are more concrete--he just doesn't like them.

I agree w/ you all. I love my free time too. We are no where near ready and might not ever have kids. We'll see.

Re: Question about Having Children?
I do want a kid. I used to want more but now I only want one. I think it would put too much stress on us to have 2 or more. I don't know honestly how someone can have like 5 kids especially when a number of them are so close in age.

Re: Question about Having Children?
I know I want at least one child, but not right now. What I am starting to worry about (I am 29, will be 30 in July) having problems TTC and regretting that we didn't try sooner.
We are both healthy, but reading the TTC board is making me think that we may problems. But then again, everything could go smoothly. KNow what I mean?
