question about tipping

question about tipping

We are tipping everyone, even in our very small budget we're able to afford generous, although not extravagant, gratuities for all Vendors, Venue staff, Bridal Attendant, and Maitre D. Having worked in this industry myself I know how reliant staff can be on tipping, and I would never dream of not rewarding good service on my special day. I know some guidelines out there express high gratuity amounts, and maybe not everyone has the budget to meet those, but I strongly suggest giving some sort of gratuity based on your satisfaction of service.

Do you tip the waitstaff? I have heard of tipping bartenders but not the wait staff

I completely agree! My mom is a Maitre'd and I used to help waitress sometimes when I was younger. I would receive a small tip from the guests ($1-5 here and there) but always appreciated receiving $25-50 from the bride/groom. It wasn't every party I would receive a tip but making minimum wage you definitely LOVE receiving that tip. I found that more bride/grooms tipped than guests as guests felt that the bride/groom were 'taking them out to dinner' and they were responsible for tipping. If you think about it the waitstaff serves you, your friends and family all night long so I definitely recommend tipping them.
