Question: Are you obsessive/compulsive about something?

Question: Are you obsessive/compulsive about something?

I ask this because just about everyone in my family is. My mother is obs/comp about her weight. I would say she weighs herself at least 5 times a day. She says she has to maintain her 'optimal' weight and freaks if she is 1lb over. Now, my dad, who inspired me to ask this question, is an obs/comp CLEAN FREAK. He borrowed my car this morning (which, btw, kept me from going to the beach ) and he was so upset at how dirty it was that he came home and immediately washed it! He's such a weirdo! But I would say my obs/comp is I am a perfectionist. Everything has to be done PERFECTLY. But I even find myself lining up silverware sometimes. Nothing too extreme, but I just thought it was interesting to see how OC my family is!

I am obsessed with keeping my clothes neat and clean. I wash exactly as the label says and get freaky if I can't iron something before I wear it. I once tried to iron a marching band uniform and burned a whole in it because it was some horrible polyester and the iron was too hot

I am compulisve about locking doors. It's almost liek a ritual. I lock teh door. Go to the car, start it, get out and check again. Sometimes I have my friends drive back during the day and check to make sure it is locked for me. I am often late for work beacsue I will drive 5 or 6 blocks, only to drive back and check it again!

Don't worry, it was funny. I was 14 and I wanted to look just perfect (how perfect can a band uniform look?)

I am a clean freak...there can't be any dishes in the sink, clothes on the bed, shoes in the living room, the list goes on & on.

I think EVERYONE has one little thing that makes them compulsive.

I am compolsive about my skin. I pick my skin ALL the time. If I feel a bump..I will scratch the hell out of it. I can't leave things alone...don't even get me started on pimples!!!

Gross, I know! FI yells at me CONSTANTLY! He even smacks my hand when I do it. It actually relaxes me though...maybe that's why I do it all the time???

Nope!

My mom is though - she is a clean freak! I mean to the point where if she has anything with fringe (and area rug, a placemat, whatever) she actually has to COMB it so that it is perfect!

alias.. im glad im not alone... i start to think i didnt lock the door, or i didnt close it, so there was a long stretch of time where id drive 10 blocks then turn around and come back to check... now when i leave the house i pull the car out, stop in front of my neighbors house and glance over to make sure its shut.. so ive gotten better.
my fiance is obsessed with germs, but he's been getting better about it, he doesnt worry if its just me and him, its the other people that hes worried about

Re: Question: Are you obsessive/compulsive about something?

I am definitely OCD. Especially with my banking--my checking account always has to be balanced every time I write a check. I check it a few times a day to see what checks clear and if someone doesn't cash my check it drives me INSANE. I don't give checks as wedding presents anymore-i do only American Express gift cheques cause it drives me up a wall! And our wedding savings always has to be an even number! LOL i'm so strange!

I am OCD also about some of the wedding planning. I am trying not to obsess about everything, but certain things just have to be done a certain way. I also am very anal and orderly. All my pictures have to organize on the comptuer and in albums in the order they were taken! I'm NUTS!

o yea-i also obsess about if i locked things or shut things off!

those are just a few of my anal ways! I get it from my dad!

When I take my shoes off, the right one has to be ahead of the next one when they're placed side by side.
I rotate my dishes and silverware so that they all get equal amounts of usage.
I have a different sponge for washing dishes and for wiping the countertop and I go nuts if FH uses the wrong one!
When I go up the stairs I have to start with my right foot and end with my right foot, and I'll even skip stairs to do it.
I can't leave a paper towel or toilet paper unevenly torn. If they're not torn on the perforation, I have to fix it.
All my towels have to be perfectly aligned and all the cans in my cupboard face forward (just like the guy from 'Sleeping With the Enemy!' )

Those are just a few of my weird obsessive/compulsive quirks
I'm otherwise very normal.... hee hee...

endlessluv429.....OMG!! I thought I was the only one in the world so anal about my checking account!! I check almost everyday, and balance it everytime I check it!! it totally drives my husband CRAZY...because everytime he takes $$ out, Im like...what did you take $40 out of the bank for today?!?! He is like, God I needed $$. I tell him that I dont care that he takes $$ out but he has to tell me so that I can put it in the registry or else we will bounce checks!!

Re: Question: Are you obsessive/compulsive about something?

I'm ocd about my checking account too! I check it constantly as well. I hate writing checks because I hate when people don't cash them! I'm also ocd about the part in my hair. It HAS TO BE IN THE MIDDLE. If a little piece is out of place, I know it and I can't stop thinking about it.

I'm not overly obsessive about the checking account but it is always balanced and I check to see when things clear etc.

I am obsessive about 'closing' the house before we go to bed. All the windows have to be shut. The blinds closed. Doors locked and alarm on.

I'm a little obsessive when it comes to doing laundry. I like to watch the machine do it's thing. It drives DH crazy. I don't why I do it but I like to watch it get sudsy and rinse. Weird - I know!

Talking about Obsessive/Compulsive....a co-worker of mine has to have all her bills all facing forward in order of denomination...now I know a lot of people who do that BUT she also puts them in chronological order based on the letter and numbers on the face of the bill!! Now that is OC!

That's great FebruaryBride! Another thing I am imagining!

I am obessive about my checking account. I check it everyday to see what cks have cleared.

I am also obessive about the sheets on my bed. I cant sleep if there is a wrinke (sp) in the sheets esp the bottom sheet. It drives FH nuts. I have been known to get up in the middle of the night and remake the bed even with FH in it.

That IS bad February!

Okay so I am a little OCD about my cehcking account too! I check it and balance it everyday! I don't mind if people don't cash checks though. I like the higher bank balance
