If you ever go to a bridal show, don't ever put your real address or phone number on the registration form. Trust me

I got a few calls when I first got engaged. I wasn't even registered on LIW then. I can honestly say I don't get any harrassing calls or any vendor calls at all.
I like to look at people info just to see who they're using and such.

Good advice! We get a ton of mail and voicemail! But we are moving - and will not be filling out anymore forms!!

Come to think of it, vendors are calling my house an awful lot now that I'm planning my wedding. I'm on a no call list. I don't know HOW they got my number though. My phone number isn't listed on my LIWeddings account information. Where do you think they got it from??? I have to screen my calls all the time now.

This is why I wont give my phone number out to anyone - all we have are cell phones, so if I get calls from vendors, I am going to be paying every minute for them. I don't want that, so I don't give it out.

(I also get junk mail a lot - for LI vendors - and I live in Illinois, so my guess is they're coming from here somehow - who else would know that I am planning a wedding in NY from here - not to mention the bridal salon I went to the other day took my address (I left off my phone number, thank god) - literally TWO DAYS later I started getting junk mail from local IL vendors - they MUST be coming from that shop, and I am SOOO ticked off)

i have gotten phone calls at home but fortunately i am never home so the machine gets them. i have all my vendors booked, but i have not posted them for bizarre reasons. i am afraid that someone will crash my wedding, i guess. i have the date, but not the place although i have mentioned it in posts. i am a fairly private person and privacy is something that is beign lost everyday and i like to keep it. if anyone wants to know my vendors, they can just ask...but ANYONE can read these boards and i guess i just want to be a bit safe.

ETA: i just recently posted vendors, but have kept location quiet.

Ok, so my suspicions were correct! I should have left everything blank! Telemarketers suck.

I left out my fiances name & the name of our MOH & BH because its not my place to spread there name around. Especially FH. He's not so big onteh message board thing.
Same reason for no pics.

Vendors I haven't listed because I haven't picked them yet!

I understand the telemarketer thing ( I had to change my # with LIW, b/c of that)
But what kind of problems arrise AFTER you pick them?

although I have to say, I don't see why giving out vendors and stuff (even people's first names) hurts - when I have 'em, I'll post all of my vendors for all to see (and the names are already there)

I mean, really - how many people named Erica are there in the NY area?

The info I'm hesitant about posting is my real personal info which I gave when I signed up - I'm SO glad I didn't give my real phone number, and I'm still iffy about giving my real address.

if you don't give your real address, then you won't get a tee-shirt when you become addicted

but seriously, i get a lot of psot card from vendors & actually have found some of them really helpful.

I just leave my answering machine on all the time and screen everyone. There are just times when you know you are so tired you can't stand, let alone hold a conversation and actually pay attention.


I have put my vendors in because I feel strongly about my decision to use them and will welcome anyone's opinions and/or experiences to contact me . After all it's our decision in the end. The boards have been very helpful, especially the negative ones. For me it's easier to find the negative in something so I can do something preemptive about it. My fiancee loved a vendor we went to for the reception hall and a photographer but I felt uncomfortable with them and had to put my foot down ( and hope she doesn't run it over ). It's both your day.

Every unsolicited phone call has been a 'house venor' of the North Ritz Club. So they gave my name to some people, whatever.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE DURING MY ENGAGEMENT:
a grad school friend said to be very careful in signing up for free wedding stuff, b.c they share your info with everyone!! i was very careful and it worked.
