Quotes for Budget

Original post by Teampuppy

Hi Ladies and Gents:

So tonight me and FH are going to sit down and really figure out a budget. We have a ballpark figure of our entire budget but when I think of the reception and how much it is costing I'm getting overwhelmed and discouraged so it's time to put it in writing. We only booked the reception so far so we pretty much need everything still. We have not looked into vendors yet and will start towards the end of summer. So if anyone would like to give us quotes regarding limos, dj's, flowers and the such can you please do so. It's just to get an idea and feel more comfortable and not frustrated.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I think I'm might try to go with the recommended vendors just so I don't have to worry about the hassle of getting insurance stuff from them. I figure since they are house vendors they know the rope and that's one less thing I have to worry about but I am also going to keep my options open for outside vendors.

Careful, I can't speak for all Vendors and all Halls of course, but a lot of the 'recommended Vendors' I looked into were way more cost wise then the average (its because they pay the hall to 'recommend them') You may be saving time with some paperwork, or even getting their dinner plate free, but once you break it down, their price can be hundreds and hundreds more than with a comparable company/service that isn't the halls set vendor.

I am not saying any/all halls have bad vendors or recommend bad vendors, or that they are trying to scam anyone. Just saying make sure you compare prices. I was shocked at the differences with some.

Very true! I was SHOCKED at the quote from SLCCs 'recommended' dj.. Twice a much as anywhere else and no ones ever heard of them!

We are on a pretty strict budget, here is what we are spending so far:

dj: 1495 for a DJ and a MC, ceremony, cocktail and reception music, he even threw in some intelligent lighting

officiant: 575

photography: 2400 for two photographers and a disc of our edited images

Wow. I'm surprised by this. FH and I booked DJ and photography from the recommended vendor list. We did look at 5 other DJ's and about 10 other photographers but both the DJ and and Photographer gave us the 'Sand Castle Discount' which came out to be a great price. We did get offered lower prices for both from other vendors but we either just didn't like their work or personality. The only recommended vendor we did not book was the limos because we felt their limos were not in good shape (the inside seats had tears in them)

Oh I'm sure plenty of Venues have great house vendors. Even at mine there are so many companies they recommend. I was only commenting on price really. Usually these vendors pay off the hall for recommending them in the first place, so they add that on top of their price. But either way if you feel comfortable with the company and of course they 'know' your hall well..its a no brainier. I just wanted to warn the brides on tight tight budgets to look around before making any choices of course and not to just blindly book because it's a house vendor.

Quotes for Budget

We had a set budget before we started looking at venues, but once I found the venue I fell in love our budget doubled..lol. It's a lot, but I figure money can always be made again and this will be our one special day we will remember for the rest of our lives. Now, I just hope we we can stay within that budget! Since we splurged on the venue, I have to be more conservative in spending for the other stuff.

My advice would be to shop around. I think creating a budget is good but its hard to stick to it and I know I would get anxiety trying to stick to it and if I went over I'd be nervous and try to make cuts and stuff to stay close to my budget or under.

I would say don't set a budget but do your best to get the best prices and stay within reason. IT helps if you book in advance as you can develop payment plans. This really helps. Also if you book in advance, you will get that years pricing as pricing tends to go up ever year.

I am a bargain girl so my vendor were definitely within reason.

I am using Dj Genesis, Abbey Photography, Distinctive Floral Design, Trans Star Executive Limo.

These were best priced for me and within a good price range I felt comfortable. If you want quotes let me know and I will FMyou.
