Random Poll of the Day - Grocery Shopping

OK this is so random, but amuse me please:

When you go grocery shopping - do you help the clerk bag your groceries?

Also if you use a cart, do you return it to the designated area?

In response to my own poll (), I always bag my own groceries, and I think it is SO annoying when I am behind someone with a batrillion items who don't bag a single item.

And I almost always return the cart, because it is SO annoying when I am trying to get a space and there is a cart in the middle of it. FH makes fun of me cause I will walk clear across the parking lot just to put the cart back in its place

I always bag too. I get annoyed when people just stand there. I worked at King Kullen for many years when I was younger, I know how much we appreciated it when someone helped bag.

Yes, and no

I always help bag, it does speed up the process, but I also would feel really strange just standing there while someone else bagged my stuff.

Oh, and I'm anal about the way things should be packed!

But usually I just take my backpack to the grocery store sand load it up myself.

How's this for Random...in grocery stores in London, the cashiers sit down!!! And they don't start on the next person until you're completely packed up (which they watch you do for the most part) and practically out the door. It's very frustrating trying to open a plastic bag with about 4 people watching you!!!

i used to do this....but the grocery store i go to in nyc makes it hard to help.....the bags are kind of tucked away next to the cashier and it makes it awkward to lean in and grab one. i suppose i could ask for a bag and offer to help, but most of the time the cashiers have the biggest attitudes, so i just watch them bag everything themselves.

I don't bag - my DH does. My “job” is to make sure that the sale items we bought actually scan at the sale price. I can't tell you how many times I would be at home looking at the receipt and sale items scanned at regular price

i bag if there's no bag person there (other than the cashier). it speeds up the process, yes, and also sometimes they do a half azz job so i'd rather nip it in the bud, so to speak.

I rarley go to grocery store, ( there have been scenes in the past) but when I used to, DH & I prefer to use the self check out lane.

He scans, I bag, & we leave the minimum wagers out of it.
Really the ones by us are very busy talking about pants, we don't like to disturb them.

And we always return the cart to its home, b/c there is nothing worse than an orphan cart.

It gets lonely .

Most of the time I shop alone. I check the prices while bagging. It's really an art. I guess I can mutli-task ( )

I prefer to bag it myself because I know how I like to unpack everything. I also pack heavy. Less trips into the house so sometimes I double bag it (that didn't sound right)..but I digress...


I always seem to go food shopping when it's pouring out. I hate that!!!!! I always return the cart. It pisses me off when carts are left to roll around banging cars (including my own)

When DH and I go together he unloads and I pack. While I'm packing he pretends to organize the groceries to make it easier for me to pack.

Really-it's much easier for me all by myself multi-tasking-but funny to watch DH. I'm usually too fast for the cashiers anyway-I used to work at Shoprite years ago-we had contests in ringing and bagging..I never won but I got really good at it even though I still hate it.

On the off chance that I have someone to bag for me, I just watch them and try not to fidget.

I usually bag my own stuff. Totally speeds up the process. I also go to self checkout if it's available. If we go together, DH will bag and I'll watch the cashier.

FH never really bags his own stuff - and I always bag it - so when we go together I bag, while he slowly removes his debit card to pay.

I do bag them...depending on the grocery store - here in NYC it's harder because the stores are so damn small and they don't really make it that accessible to you. Plus, I am usually watching to see how much everything is.

When I do the shopping I like to bag it myself. The last time I allowed a clerk to do it for me I had to explain to the poor boy that a loaf of bread should not be in the same bag as a bottle of soda, because the soda always wins. And he looked at me as if I were crazy..
