Random question: Did anybody register for a vacuum?
Original post by GettinHutched
I know, totally random. But it's been suggested that we register for one.
Question is- which one? And how much should the limit be on this?
TIA!

I think it's totally fine to register for that!
My FH and I registered for cupboards and sinks for our house through Lowes! We're renovating and all of our friends and family said they would rather help us with that then getting us dishes and what not. FH is super happy about that!!!!

We registered for the Dyson.
Remember...your registry is a wish list!!!! As long as you have a variety of price points you are good...don't fret about putting some pricier items on there.

Why is it soooo hard for me to grasp this concept? I feel AWFUL registering for anything over $200!!!! Just the thought of it makes me nuts!

We added the Dyson Animal vacuum (which is very close to $500) because we have dogs and they are said to be the best vacuum. No way do we expect to receive it, but we can get 20% off after the wedding, so that's a great deal.
What is this post registry discount you ladies are talking about? Does BBB have it?

I totally understand how you feel. Every decision was painful because I felt guilty. Thank god for my mom assuring me that it was okay and that people would make the decision on how much to spend....whether it be a little or a lot. Enjoy it!

BBB has it ... I think all registries do. Its a completion program. What that means is after your wedding has past, the stores give you a day to come in and buy things from your registry at a discounted price (usually 10% off).
I have a friend who got married in November that suggested putting all kinds of things on your registry right before the wedding that you want to buy yourself ... mattresses, furniture, etc .... to take advantage of that discount

we did - a dyson! heh, i know it's a lot, but the worst that can happen is no one buys it, and if someone does? yay! =0)

Re: Random question: Did anybody register for a vacuum?
FH & I live together, so I already have a Kenmore canister vacuum, which is ok, but if I were registering for one now, I would definitely go with an Electrolux canister vac......they are ridiculously lightweight and Electrolux is a great brand (FMIL has had hers for 30 years, I'm not kidding!! She gets some vacuum guy to service it when need be, but that puppy is still going strong!! it's unreal!). I think its a little cheaper than the Dyson if the dollar amount is a concern.
As a splurge I put the Roomba on our registry- I think it was around $280? Definitely put a good vacuum on your registry though!!!! My sis put something that cost like $130 on hers, and now she regrets it.....get something that will last!

I was talking about using the standard BBB 20% off coupon. I used my gift card for it before I was married so the completion thing didn't apply.

Re: Random question: Did anybody register for a vacuum?
we are registered for the Dyson ball vacuum -- and if we don't get it off our Fortunoff's registry we'll just buy it at BBB with some gift cards we have and a 20% off coupon. it's all good!!
