Re: RD in backyard
we were going to do that...i wanted to BBQ or just get some heroes and salads. Since it was only the BP we went with Pizza............honestly i dont understand why people have a RD....YOU ARE FEEDING THEM THE NEXT DAY!! lol i really dont see the point, i think its just another waste of money IMO if you have it in the yard big deal...honestly i think things like that are more fun! I never even heard of a RD before comming onto this site......My parents even asked me where that idea came from because they never heard of it. I say go for it! If anyone has something to say about it screw them!

Re: RD in backyard
Many people do this in NJ. They also do showers in the house here as well. It's fun and nobody rushes you out People can also dress a bit casual if you wanted it casual.

We also can't afford to do this. It should be the Groom's parents but that isn't happening. So I am doing it at my parents house. I am fine with it, no big deal.

Re: RD in backyard
I am having mine catered at my dads house. We just ran out of money and steam so we figured why stress about this?

Re: RD in backyard
Definitely not tacky, it should be alot of fun!! Actually, I had mine in a restaurant because it was winter and there were 3 long tables done in a horseshoe shape. My inlaws actually said they wished the tables were round or more connected so they could have hung out more with my family. I think the backyard will be great and everyone will be able to interact better.

Go for it!!!! I think it would be fun plus you have the choice of so many great caterers.
Check out Valley Caterers in Franklin Square. Delicious and not expensive!!!

This is exactly what I mean...how fun! Don't get me wrong, my rehersal dinner was great and I live in an apartment, so it made sense, but our families get along really well and that would have been so much fun.

Re: RD in backyard
My friend did that 2 years ago, to be honest, i would want to do that, I love BBQs!!! but my parents are all prim and proper. As a BM for that wedding, i really didn't care, I was just happy to be there and celebrating my friend's wedding! Good luck with everything

Re: RD in backyard
We had ours at my parents house. My parents did such a nice job setting up the food and and all kinds of drinks. We did a quick rehearsal for our FG in the backyard. Everyone had a great time and it was easy for everyone to mingle and get to know each other.

I am November too, so we are doing it inside, but making it very casual buffet style...people can hang out wherever they want, kitchen, den, living room, dining room, basement, etc! As long as alcohol and food are present, people will have a good time!

Re: RD in backyard
i'm considering doing this too...I think its ok because its really only the bridal party which should be your bestest friends. its an unstuffy vibe and everyone can hang out and be at ease and not feel like they have to get dressed up and be on their best behavior.
