RE: 'Dead Horse'

I want to start off by saying I'm not looking to start a battle .. I simply felt compelled to express my opinion on the username 'Dead Horse.'

As someone who loves horses, and is strongly against the slaughter of these companion animals within the borders of our country, I am offended by the selection of this username.

I think it's just an expression! No need to take offense!

Not starting a battle either, but I think the user name- is a response to beating a dead horse which is an expression.

Yeah, it came up because there was a 'drama' thread going on and on... it was meant to say 'no use beating a dead horse'. I thought it was funny! Has NOTHING to do with real horses...

I am a horse lover too and I agree with the ladies. It is in reference to the issues that are beaten.

I get it .. just a very sensitive topic for me .. that's all.

Re: RE: 'Dead Horse'

It was just a joke as in 'beating a dead horse' not meant to offend anyone. Just wanted to 'lighten up' heated threads!

Sheesh people don't be so sensitive

Re: RE: 'Dead Horse'

Well, now that I've had the reasoning 'beaten' into me .. let me just say thanks for seeing how I could have taken it the wrong way.

I've known of too many horses that have ended up in slaughter houses .. so I am still bothered by the name, though .. and 'bothered' would probably have been a better word to use than 'offended' in my original note.

As for the advice to not be so sensitive .. sorry, but when you get so many people sharing thoughts and ideas, like on this very busy message board, you have to expect there are going to be differing opinions, and I was merely expressing mine based on personal history .. and if that makes me too sensitive .. I can live with that .. the world already has enough thoughtless people.

Did anyone say horse?

Here's a photo of my on my horse.
Christina wants us to buy her a horse too.
What does everyone think? Should a 14 year old have their own horse?

Ron you crack me up

I used to take riding lessons when I was little but I never had the privilege of owning my own horse!!

If a 14 is willing to clean up after them, then yes!! They should be allowed to get one

Re: RE: 'Dead Horse'

I thought you were all on my side. The animal she wants cost 10 grand! My horse was no where near that. Yes she already cleans stalls so I don't think there's a problem with that. But she wants me to also build our own barn so she doesn't have to walk next door. Well excuse me missy! Come on someone give me a reason why she shouldn't have a horse. PLEASE!

Quiet you before I tell everyone who you REALLY are!

Why make the kid happy and give her what she wants, tell her no, because you said so, and that's all the reason you need.

Re: RE: 'Dead Horse'

also send her to her room without dinner.

COME ON NOW! Think of the responsibility she will learn! The possiblity of a future career in veterinary medicine or horse racing or something like that! Look at it as an investment in her future...

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted a horse when I was little, can you tell?
