i bought a dress to wear after cake cutting (for the last hour and a half of the reception) BUT i'm not sure if i am feeling it anymore - any websites where i could browse dresses? i want something short, sexy and maybe lace - do any wedding dress designers make reception dresses? any good websites to check out? ive been googling since last night but haven't found anything yet

Not sure how much you were looking to spend but how adorable is this??
I don't know what styles they currently have, but try the White House Black Market and J. Crew website or stores. What about Nordstroms or Bloomingdales?? HTH
I love this one. Lillette's has something on display by the BM dresses that is short, but looks like the same color and fabric as a wedding gown, and would make a great reception dress
anyone know anything more about it?

Did you try nordstrom.com? I know they have a lot of more 'casual' style wedding dresses.
i have a birdcage veil that FH is dying for me to wear - so i figured i can wear it with the short dress - problem is the short dress i already bought is a BCBG dress and its very modern so it clashes with the birdcage....

How about something like what Britney Spears wore for her wedding? She changed into a short little lace dress with a cutout back. I'm trying to find a pic online.

i really loved that dress (the bcbg middle dress) b/c i felt like it looks like a 'party' dress - but i feel like it looks a little cheapy on - i think the color white sometimes makes things look cheapy KWIM?

I think I know what you mean--in certain fabrics it can look kind of 'cheapy'.....but lace totally doesn't usually...I totally see your vision....hmm....but I don't know where to go either!! so tough!!
