Reception Hall Hunt Begins! Help!!!

Reception Hall Hunt Begins! Help!!!

I just got engaged in Dec. 07' and we are just beginning our reception hall search. We are not set on a date. Thinking anytime from May-September. Leaning towards September. Wondering if anyone had reviews/prices for the following places:

1. Chateau La Mer
2. Lombardi's on the Sound
3. Milleridge Cottage
4. North Ritz Club
5. Crescent Beach Club
6. Venetian Yacht Club
7. Bridgeview Yacht Club
8. Westbury Manor
9. Douglaston Manor
10. Harbor Club

* I would prefer one wedding at a time, higher ceilings (tall family!), near water, bar INSIDE reception hall (big one - I been to too many weddings where everyone is gone at the bar the whole time - including myself ).

Thanks for your help!

I am having my wedding at the North Ritz Club in October. I absolutely love the way the place is set up! They only have one wedding at a time, the decor and grounds are beautiful, they have a gorgeous mahogany bar in the main room and I hear the food is delicious! The service thus far has been great too - I've been working with Nadine and she is a pleasure to work with!

It's not on your list but The Metropolitan is where we had our reception and they did an AMAZING job. I have nothing but great things to say about everything - the food, the decor, the staff..everything.

But on your list, we also looked at Chateau la Mer and Harbor Club, and based on our appt's with them, they both seemed great too.

CLM is either $115 or $120 on a Saturday night in September.

Congratulations too!

I second the NRC!!! I love love love being there and the people are just so nice. Any questions I need, are answered right away. Pricing is reasonable (compared to most others i've seen) the grounds are beautiful, and its one wedding at a time. The ballroom is just gorgeous

Floral Terrace does one wedding at a time, but it's not close to water and the ceilings may be too low for your taste. But, they do put on a good event and great food! It wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Thanks for your advice:) My older sister actually got married at the NRC in Sept. 2003 and we all loved it! I was thinking more of a water setting but I def. am still highly considering the NRC. Since she had hers, I know it has had more work added. Do you mind telling me what the prices are for a wedding in Oct? Thanks! We are going to see it probbaly in a week or so.

I'm not sure how you feel about having it in Brooklyn, but I am getting married at The Rotunda in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn....right off the Belt Parkway. It is on the water (Jamaica Bay/Atlantic Ocean). Very high celings. You bring in your own caterer and I will have a few bars set up, plus waiter service. My ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside, weather permitting. If I have to have a plan B, The Rotunda is sooo big, that the walls can be moved to section off the ceremony, cocktail hour and then the reception.
Here are some pics, so you can get an idea.

It's just starting to get popular, so I'm pretty sure they still have available dates and the good ones too! Plus, they don't charge any different from a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. So I picked a Saturday in September. The site fee is $8k for 5 hours. I need it for 6 hours, so it's an additional $1k. The story goes is that it used to be ONLY KOSHER catering, but they decided last year to let any caterers come in. It's really an amazing place.
I am super excited that my wedding is going to be there. Plus, I grew up across the water (view of The Rockaways). Oh and it is 1 wedding at a time.

You can try Captain Bills in Bay Shore. It's $90 pp plus tax & gratuity....at least that it what they quoted my last February. We decided to go a different route though. Here is a link to the Bay View House @ Captain Bills.
