fh and i are planning to get married this december (december 07) and are looking around for reception halls. i was wondering if you girls had any suggestions. we're trying to keep the wedding fairly cheap (under $10,000 if at all possible) and can guarentee a minimum of 100 people. it's just kinda hard right now b/c in addition to being completely lost on how and where to start looking, we're not gonna be back in ny permanently until may. so any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated. =0)
thanks in advance! =0)

Gotta shout out Hamlet Willow Creek. It is absolutely gorgeous, food is amazing and the price per person for a Saurday for me was under 90/pp!

Re: reception halls?
We're also trying to keep our wedding under $10,000, but in June 07, and we're succeeding so far. We're getting married at the Mansion at Timber Point, which is more of a country club/mansion rather than a catering hall. We love it there. The off-season price is in the $60 a head range, depending what day and what time. If you want to save money, December is a good choice, and you can further save by doing a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. In December, it will be dark before the afternoon reception ends, so you can do a lot with candlelight, and we booked when they had the Christmas decorations up, and it looked lovely. And the food is great, we wouldn't have booked if the food wasn't excellent.
Good luck!

Re: reception halls?
I know the Brentwood Country Club has entire wedding packages that can cost around or less then that. Also, I think the Swan Club can be very reasonable.

Try Westbury Manor. They have 2 weddings at a time so they're prices are much cheaper. but they do a BEAUTIFUL wedding.

Check out Swan Club. They have 3 different rooms for different # of guests. Their prices were VERY reasonable for my June 2nd wedding.

Theres a lot of places that you can do it at, if you you're willing to get married on a friday or sunday. try woodbury country club or fox hollow.

Re: reception halls?
Have no fear! There is so much out there in so many different prices, you'll find something, esp. since you're looking off season. You should try the Riverview or West Sayville Country Club. I like it a lot. You also could probably look at places that you might think are out of your price range. Since you're not in the peak of wedding season, you could prob. find a really good deal! Good luck!

They also have a BIG food selection...we have two vegetarian dishes on the menu and a sushi bar and that is included in the price.
