We personally didn't like Woodbury CC for the money. The grounds were nice, but not amazing and when we were in there there was one wedding upstairs and another getting ready and you could hear EVERYTHING from the upstairs wedding. The floor shook, the DJ music came through every room, it just was not what we were looking for.

Re: reception halls
I only looked at 2 reception halls and booked as soon as I fell in love. I looked into Chateau La Mer and Crest Hollow Country Cub. I booked with Crest Hollow on the spot because it was exactly what I was looking for.

also, what day of the week are you looking for? day/evening? We may be able to help you narrow it down price wise! I know at a lot of places, Saturday night weddings are $$$$ but other days might be better!
I really want a Saturday night. though if I ever really had to I might be okay with a Sunday night. I just see Friday as people showing up late or traffic. at least that's how it is with my friends. but then on Sunday I'm worried people will leave early.

Re: reception halls
you should def check out the Riviera in Massapequa then. Their Sat night min is 130, and their prices are well within your range! And they are super nice there and its gorgeous. Although I am biased

It depends:
What kind of a feel are you looking for? How many ppl? What price are you looking to pay pp?
not sure what kind of feel. at least 100 but probably no more then 150 people. and no more then $150 pp.
First, I would call your top places and find out what their minimum is. I found that a lot of halls on LI have a 175-200 person minimum for Saturday nights, so that helped me decide who I was going to see since I only wanted to guarantee 150.
wow didn't know that. if I really fell in love I might be able to get more people lol. I mean if I totally fell in love. or I might get lucky and have my whole family actually come from out of state. I just made an estimation on the amount of people coming but I know the price range can't be any higher
I don't even know who is supposed to be invited. what if you have friends but they aren't your closest friends do you still invite them? I am so worried I am going to offend people because with facebook nowadays and everyone with their status's or putting up pictures I'd never want anyone going omg why wasn't I invited?
enough rambling lol.

Lombardi's on the Bay
We also looked at Huntington Harbor Club & Land's End. Both were really nice- Land's End is a little pricey though.

Definitely create a guest list. I thought I was going to have a small wedding, and my guest list right now is at 225! Granted, we only expect 150-175, but still! A guest list will help you figure out what type of halls you should see, and will help eliminate some right off the bat.
I'm actually booked at one of the halls on your list, the Hamlet in Mt. Sinai. My FH and I love it. If you have any specific questions about it, please FM me. I'd be happy to help.

I had a huge problem with this, i really wanted a saturday and i wanted one wedding at a time and for 150peope it was almost impossible, i was even looking for memorial day weekend and labor day weekend and it was still hard because people want the higher minimum. take a look at Douglaston Manor, Glen cove mansion, the woodlands, or the lessings mansions. alot of the converted mansions are not Huge so they allow you to have a lower minimum.

Woodlands wants min 175-200 for a Saturday night. It is DEF possible, especially if you don't care about being the only party. However, there are a bunch that will do 150 for you that ARE 150 min. Re: reception halls
My list of places to see incluses: Glen Island Harbour Club ( I just saw them yesterday so let me know if you have any questions). Greentree Country Club (we saw this place and hated the BM so it is now off our list) Colonial Terrace (Very nice place at a good price, but not exactly what we were looking for) Beakman Pointe (They are renovating until 2011) The Fountainhead (Same owners as Glen Island, beautiful space but nothing is outdoors) Windows on the Hudson (Also under construction until 2011) Villa Barone Hilltop Manor (We have a wedding there in Oct so we will check it out then)
I still need to go see the rest: Douglaston Manor Sand Castle The Venetian The Estate at Florentine Gardens Rockleigh Chateau Briand Seasons Macaluso’s Fox Hollow Country Club Waterview Club Chateau La Mer Villa Lombardi’s
