Sooooo.....I was unwrapping a shower gift from a certain close member of FH's family and I got soooooo excited b/c it was a Tiffany Box and inside was a really pretty bowl from Tiffany's. I was like WOW THANK YOUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!! So when we got home and I had more time to look at it, I was so excited to show FH and he yelled out.......
'RE-GIFTED'!!!!!!!!!!!!
In all the craziness of the shower, I never really noticed that the box was beat up and it wasn't packaged like a regular Tiffany Item. FH gets me so much stuff for Tiffany's so of course he would notice.
Regardless, it's a really cute bowl so i'm not sure if i'm offended or not?
Would you be??

If they got me something else with it, I wouldn't care.

I'd be a little offended, but not enough to say anything.

without sounding snotty I would be really offended it is one thing to be tight with money but as tight as I would be I would never re-gift especially for a bridal shower it is offensive and tacky JMHO- that stinks funny how fast Louie spotted it

If you like the gift- who cares! (as long as it's not scratched up or anything!)

id be a little offended but i would be glad it was something i liked. it still could be thoughtful, maybe they got it and didn't want it but knew you loved tiffanys and thought you would like it?
im too guilty to regift without telling them
ex: the nyc law firm i'll be working at sent me a starbucks gift card during exams... FH and I dont drink coffee. i gave it to my best friend with her birthday card but told her it was a regift and that i knew she loved starbucks

Your responses are cute. It's not scratched up at all but it's obviously regifted. No bag, no tissue, no ribbon and pen on the box.
FH is slick

actually, i'm really really trying NOT to be snotty or unappreciative here. Although....I do think it's kind of rude....if it was anything other than a Tiffany Bowl...I may have been mad. BUT I LOVE TIFFANY'S LOL
FH is yelling that I have 'selective prejudice' and told me i'm a 'butt fly' WTH????????

see that is different though because it is something you would never use but you were nice enough to tell a friend
i could never re-package something I try to pass it off

I wouldn't be offended if it is nice! If it was some funky knitted sweater or blanket then I'd be pissed!

call be superficial but i'd probably rather get a regift i liked than a non-registry non-regift i didnt

It's obviously a nice gift, but it still wasn't thoughtful! Would you regift for a shower if you were going to one? Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful gift and I would love it, but it would also upset me that the person didn't take the time to think or shop around for something that I would want or like.

yes and no. If they admitted it and gave something else as well I wouldnt be. But to make it like tehy took the time to go and pick it out but really didn't is kind of insulting.

Re: 'REGIFTED' Shower Item.....Offended or Not??
I wouldn't be offended. All the mags I read say it's ok to regift if 1) you know the person who gave it to you will never find out, and 2) you know the person you are giving it to will love it. It sounds like whoever gave it to you at least knew you well enough to know that they had met the 2) requirement. If this person gives you another regifted item for your wedding, I'd be offended then (um, like a check with that person's name on it!). Just kidding about the check. Honestly, the person could have gotten it and IMMEDIATELY thought that you would love it and decided to give it to you. I don't think regifting has to imply the person's cheap - I think it's more in line with 'Well, I really don't need this, but I know that Anamarie will love it, so I will give it to her.'
Hope you enjoy it!!

Re: 'REGIFTED' Shower Item.....Offended or Not??
depends on who it's from. For my shower one of my best friends got me a sheet set - they are really nice sheets - Frette linens. But I thought it was weird because they weren't on my registry and I had at least 4 sets on my registry. She got married last august, so I'm wondering if she regifted. I don't think she would do that (I hope not b/c i spent a gazillion on all her towels) but it's still odd. Plus I want to ask her where they are from because they are white and I HATE white sheets (remind me of hospitals).
I am not sure i would notice but if it were really obvious and a really close friend or family member, maybe I would care. But probably not. it's still an unused gift.
