Registry Vent

Registry Vent

You girls make way too much drama out of everything!!

People complain on here all the time and if you don't like what they have to say, you can nicely explain your reasoning and why. Not every girl gets attacked.

I still think two people bringing a $30 odd gift to a wedding is weird. I think this because when I go to a wedding with a guest I'd typically give $200 cash. I will stand behind that. I'm not being ungrateful or whiny... it's my opinion, and a complaint I have because I don't necessarily understand it. If you have a different perspective to this type of occurrence - great! Just don't be rude about it and then call other people childish

Did you have your shower already? Do you have OOT guests? It's usually the OOT guests that actually bring guests. It doesn't really sound greedy but I can understand if you are going to actually give a gift for the wedding then give the nice stuff, not the veggie peeler.

Yes we have a lot of OOT guests and FH warned me his family is cheap... but yeah, ok... so you only want to spend $40, can you at least get $40 in glasses or china or something nice rather than $40 in dish towels and potato mashers?? lol...

But meanwhile... I still feel like I am going into debt for this wedding. two people is about $200 and you are going to show up with a $35 cutting board?? It's just bizarre to me.

Your right, people don't think. Sadly, you are going to have those guests, but others will make up for them.

Could the same person possibly be buying all of them? I went to a shower and there were no pricey items left on the registry, so I bought $100 of small items and put them all together.

Yeah that's what I've done for 2 of my friends.

I am totally fearing this myself... FH is from Maryland and I don't think the OOT guests have a clue that all people give up here for gifts is money... I am actually considering taking down my registries after my shower so they take a hint (although I hope that doesn't back fire and then they buy cheap crap from somewhere else).... ugh annoying

We were thinking of taking the registry down but FH felt we would get unwanted gifts.

Re: Registry Vent

Just my opinion, but I expected people to come to my wedding and enjoy the day with me, not pay for themselves. I had some friends who couldn't give me anything bc of their financial problems and I was like that's cool with me! At a friends shower me and a few other girls took separate trips to bbb and made her a huge gift box of stuff. Believe me, I got some CRAPPY gifts but, I had fun and so did everyone else. That all
I cared about :)

Yeah I'm sorry but you're sounding kind of crappy.

Seriously. Be glad they are giving you a present at all.

Its your choice to spend what you are spending on your wedding. Its not your guests responsibility to make up your costs.

Be happy people are coming to celebrate with you and remember what's important.

Its pretty tacky to complain about people buying you things you registered for.

Just enjoy your day and the planning leading up to it. Try not to get hung up on frivolous details. It will only stress you out and give you premature wrinkles

FYI.... If you have ur reg with BBB and you return anything that was bought off of it they will give you the CASH for it!!! So just return the stuff and get cash for it!!

Thanks for understanding!! At my engagement party, a majority of guests did not bring a gift. You are right, for some reason, bringing nothing is less insulting than a poor choice in gift.

I'm not expecting people to pay for their seat but I always give a cash gift if I go somewhere... making sure that I at LEAST cover my seat (and my guests seat).

... but you don't think its bad etiquette to complain about a gift that people aren't required to give?

seriously?

Yeah well I spent about 200 pp when all said and done and I literally had about 15 people who bought NOTHING and many others who spent about 50-100 per couple. . it drove me crazy for a while and at some point my advice would be to just let it go. . in the end it's not about the money it's about the day. . trust me I FEEL YA. . but
