You girls make way too much drama out of everything!!
People complain on here all the time and if you don't like what they have to say, you can nicely explain your reasoning and why. Not every girl gets attacked.
I still think two people bringing a $30 odd gift to a wedding is weird. I think this because when I go to a wedding with a guest I'd typically give $200 cash. I will stand behind that. I'm not being ungrateful or whiny... it's my opinion, and a complaint I have because I don't necessarily understand it. If you have a different perspective to this type of occurrence - great! Just don't be rude about it and then call other people childish

Re: Registry Vent
Hey... I'd love to fly Oceanic and I'd say there's a dozen or so girls here who'd love to come with me.
And no, I don't think it's immature. I'm apparently one of only a very few here willing to call you out on how despicable these comments are. And so be it.
Don't get mad because you're acting unclassy and I'm calling you out on it.
But hey... send me a link to your registry. I'll buy you a dish towel and you can go cry about it.

You all can call her out, flame her, whatev.
But do you think its fair to like attack her?
Seriously! You may not agree with what she said, but you sure could give a response not so hate filled.
Chillax.

Re: Registry Vent
You know, I just have to say this.
There have been plenty of posts from people who complain about the most mundane things with plenty of people backing them up and I never said a word about it.
Did I think what they were complaining about was stupid, immature, bratty, etc...? YES
Did I say anything about it? NO
There are ways to tell someone not to be so picky or petty without making yourself sound just as bad as the complainer. If you can't do that, don't say anything at all.

Re: Registry Vent
I hear you, I would probably have similar thoughts. A person shouldn't come to a wedding if he is going to get you a 30 dollar gift, unless he can't afford more and he is an important person to be there. I think that's reasonable and most people know it costs about 100 per person, so it's cheap to give less....especially way less. It's JMO that a bride and groom are starting a life together---they could probably use money for that, and a guest shouldn't come and eat their food and drink their alcohol and then be cheap with them, it's just not a nice thing to do. I guess just wait and see how things pan out.

Re: Registry Vent
Also-I've been told a bunch of times like someone else in this thread said that other people make up for it, so it generally evens out.

Hm. Nahhhhhhh.
She keeps going on and on about her poor, bride to be life. Crying in a corner because Aunt Jodie only spent $24 dollars. Cry, cry.
If I'm a jerk for calling her out... then sign me up for the Jerk Club.
If being the one who's not a sheep and willing to call out a bullsh*t artist makes me a Jerk then I nominate myself the president of the club.

Yeah I'm sorry but you're sounding kind of crappy.
Seriously. Be glad they are giving you a present at all.
i agree. i'm sorry but you're sounding pretty greedy here. who cares if the small stuff comes off first? it happened on mine and at my shower we got almost everything off the list. does it really matter what order stuff comes off in? you should be happy people are buying you things in the first place! taking the registry down is a pretty silly thing to do and it will only make you look unappreciative

Be grateful for what you do get and celebrate the fact that people are excited to be there during your life changing and amazing event.
Maybe thats just me...
When time comes to use that 19.95 towel rack, you're going to laugh that you ever turned your nose up on it.

No kidding. Those little things (that in reality, someone PROBABLY just bought a mess load of little things - something I'm famous for doing) are the items you will use at your house on a probably daily basis.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how a potato peeler or something small is any less or more thoughtful than something like a blender or anything of a higher dollar amount.
I mean - I know it ISN'T but I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that this girl is trying to say that it is.
And yes, ladies... you can join me in the jerk club. AKA the people with common sense and willingness to be brutally honest without themselves being a moron club.

Serously. Let it rest.
No reason to attack. I dont think the OP was saying summin about THE towel rack, rather than its just strange like people would come to a wedding and just bring a small gift.
I think we would all like be appreciative. She never said she was not. But we would still scratch our heads at it. We all would. But it still don't mean that we hate the gift or wont use it.
Leave the OP alone already. Ya beat her up enough.
Just leave it be already.

Re: Registry Vent
No one was 'beating her up;' it was obviously a difference of opinion and just as much as the OP was 'mad,' so were some of the responses.
Who's to say we have to kind and gentle to people who complain about not getting a big gift?
MUST we treat all the posters like the were fragile kittens who can't take criticism? I hope not, that's not what this site is for; if someone wants to complain, then someone else can too. Tit for Tat, people.
OP - I see you didn't like some of the responses you got. Oh well. Don't dwell on them! If someone called you a baby, don't cry in a corner about how life isn't fair - Oh boo freakin' hoo, I'm getting a small gift and people don't like that I'm complaining about it.
Not everyone is going to have the same opinion when you complain about something.

.
Someone said for her to go an Oceanic flight......if that’s not beating up, I don’t know what is.
And no. You don’t HAVE to be kind and gentle. I was pointing out that we can CHOOSE to be.
If someone posts a picture of their dress, flowers or an 'extra' they are having at their wedding that I don’t like, or think is just wrong, I choose to say nothing. Like, its not my taste. So I CAN say something mean or I can say nothing. We all SO wont agree on whats tacky or not, cute or not, amazing or not.
And criticize the fragile kitten. But you can be nice. That's just summin to think about.

If you don't like something, you can say it!!
Sometimes people post their ideas for flowers and if I don't like it, I'll say, 'Ehh, I don't love the combo, maybe try a different type of flower or a lighter color.'
It's called constructive criticism and this is why the site is here. Don't stay quiet if you don't like something!
I understand if a girl posts her fitting pics and you don't like the dress, so you don't respond, but why would you say you didn't like it anyway? common sense.
I post an opinion when someone asks for it. You should as well. That's just SOMETHING to think about.

Some people, who beat her up ('Go die on a flight' etc..)....
...WERE NOT CONSTRUCTIVE!!!!
They were outright mean and nasty.
My point was we can all be nice, STILL criticize and NOT just attack.
JUST LIKE YOU SAID ABOVE.

That's nice. That's a nice way to say it. There are nice ways to say things:
'You may not realize, but you come off ungrateful when say stuff like 'I don't think its right to give a $20 dollar gift.' I might have put the thought another way. But it just comes across badly.'
And that is my final word.

Re: Registry Vent
Yeah she wasn't asking for an opinion. She was boohooing because she thinks people aren't giving gifts that are 'thoughtful' enough i.e. don't cost enough. Her words - not mine.
And she hasn't even been given the gifts yet. The only thing worse than scoffing at a gift is scoffing at a gift that hasn't even been given yet.
I hope someone gives her gift to someone else.
Like brokea$$ FH and I
And yup. Oceanic flight.
Perhaps my best meanie jerk store attack of all time. I tip my hat to you J.J. Abrams.
Try flight 815.

Re: Registry Vent
For me, the reason I am having a wedding with guests is so those guests can share our special day. I chose the people on my list with care. I chose friends and family. They are the ones that I want to share one of the most important days in my life with.
Any gifts I end up receiving at the wedding are GIFTS. I am not charging a “cover charge”! We chose to have a party, therefore it is our responsibility to pay for that party. I will be thankful for anything that is gifted to us, no matter how big or small. I did not choose my guest list by the size of their wallets.
I think it is ok that you vented about this. Sometimes I vent without thinking about what I am saying. A gift is just that, a gift. We should all learn to graciously accept any gift we receive.
Maybe the person has intention on giving cash with a small gift that YOU registered for. Or maybe they can’t make it to your wedding and they are making you a “care package” gift.
I guess from this post we can all learn not to register for things we do not want to receive. Sometimes my fh asks me what I want for my birthday and I will say a bunch of stuff, maybe mention things I don’t really want him to give me, I just wanted to give him a good choice. But it bites me in the a** because he ends up giving me the thing I really didn’t want.
