Rehearsal Dinner timing

Rehearsal Dinner timing

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out when to have my RD. I am getting married at my RH - ceremony at 11:30 am on a Saturday - so there won't be a formal rehearsal at the hall. I definitely do not want to have the RD the night before (starting hair and MU at 7am). Two members of the wedding party are coming from out of town (about a 3-4 hour drive each) and have kids who will be in school, (one is my flower girl) so they can't really come earlier in the week. Would it be bad to have the RD 1 or 2 weekends before the wedding and ask them to make the drive twice in that short time period? Or better to have it without the people that can't make it? Or any other ideas?

TIA!

I am also getting married at my reception hall and we arent having a technical rehearsal, but i wanted to have a dinner and gather everyone together and give them their gifts before the wedding. I booked my RD two weeks before on a friday night at 7:30. I personally felt like it was going to be too much for us 2 days before the wedding to do the RD . I also have two ppl in my wedding that live upstate and I dont expect them to come to the RD 2 weeks before and drive down again 2 weeks later for my wedding. I mean if they do great if not, I'll see them on my day and they can have their gifts then.
So IMO doing it a week or 2 before is fine and if a couple ppl cant make it, it's not a big deal. Do what is most conveinent for you!!

Thanks. I guess the best thing to do would be to have it 1 or 2 weeks before and hope that everyone can make it

you could skip the dinner part and just ask the bridal party to be ready earlier the day of so everything can be gone over. Unless it's the dinner part you really want lol.

We're already starting everything so early - doing pics before the ceremony, starting at 9am, so I think the morning is going to be a little hectic. Plus, I would like to give them their gifts ahead of time, so they can use them on the day of.

I've been to RDs a week in advance and some the night before. I chose to do mine tomorrow night (Thurs) for my 5/21 wedding. The church actually convinced me - they said I'd be able to have more fun knowing I could sleep in on Friday!
