Im catholic converting to Greek Orthodox. Im not very religious so I'm okay with it, to raise our childen GO. Its kind of a hard thing to do changing religons ...understanding it. We both want our children to have one religon. The GO is also very into their culture and community .

Also its a dream for his Uncle (who is a Greek Orthodox Priest) to marry us.

they say that GO and catholic are very similar. I know a couple who was catholic and GO and he didn't convert and they let them get married in the GO church. And they are raising there children GO.

it is very similar...a few differences of course...We believe in icons not statues, catholics believe in statues not icons. Catholics believe in pergatory but we dont. Our priests are allowed to get married, catholics cant. Then theres a few other things cant remember everything exactly. Another thing is that when a christian orthodox gets baptised thats allthey have to do,no confirmation or communion.

oh okay thanks!

i actually have something like that for my bedroom after i get married - it is a huge silver portrait of mary and jesus - it is the bride's gift to every couple and you have to have it in your bedroom. . . * this is not a 'catholic' thing really, more of an Italian tradition. Certain things each family does differently - we have to have the last supper in our dining room, Padre Pio ( a saint) at our doorway, and Mary and Baby Jesus in the bedroom. I love stuff like that.

OOPS, yes you are right, I meant to agree with you that CO is LIKE GO. The European countries you mentioned above are CO. I have many friends that aren't Greek and they are Orthodox. I have heard Greek people say they are Greek Christian Orthodox, they are Chirstians baptised in a Greek Orthodox church

FH and I both grew up in Roman Catholic families. I've since become a buddhist and FH is agnostic, so there won't be any religous involvement in our wedding....

wow..were are a lot alike..i grew up roman catholic and FH grew up baptist and we both do not subscribe to any religion and we both pretty much consider ourselves agnostic..which is why a priest, minister, etc. will not marry us
