Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!
Original post by Kimbalina
Have you looked at the stresses and delemia of the brides of the next 3 years?
I think it is probablly what we were thinking about when we started planning... but there are so many stressing threads on the BHB page,, it makes me laugh that they are concerned about their weddings that seem so far off! I know that this was us back in the 06/07 years!
Edt..because there is a good point made lower on this page
Edt- because I am not trying to hurt feelings!
Ps... I am leaving work at 2 and wont be on till tomorrow! Sorry dont want to post and run!

(Just a side-note, after a bit of research I learned this newly edited and extremely condescending thread was started by someone who was shopping for DOJ a year and a half before her wedding! Good Luck to YOU!!)
Ok. I only commented on the 2011 who was worried about someone getting pregnant, not so much the people planning early, but I took it down. To each their own, even if it doesn't make sense to me.
But for the record - Kim said that she did do similar things a couple years ago and was laughing on how perspectives have changed - this was just unnecessary and made it worse. I think this is probably the most condescending thing written on this thread. I hope it made you feel better

i got engaged a year ago (july 07) and at that time, in July 07 some of the 08 brides had already been engaged for almost a year already, some maybe even longer - and there were a few i noticed that were almost done planning their wedding and i didnt even start yet because i had just gotten engaged and to be honest i thought some of them were nuts but hey different strokes for different folks right? im getting married in like 4 months and i bet there are 09 girls ahead of me when it comes to planning and stuff - but everyone is different and thats fine by me - i wanted to enjoy the engagement, savor it, and plan in increments - i didnt want to rush all the fun away and be left with nothing to do - some brides want to do it all as soon as they get engaged and that is fine too...
i will say that i think ALL of us are guilty of posting something silly or asking a silly question - as a matter of fact i just posted the stupidest thing the other day about my shower and now i cant believe that i even posted it and felt the way i did that day - so i think sometimes we can get caught up in the crazy world of LIW....
i will add that its true about picking things out early on - you probably are going to change your mind anyways!

Re: Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!
I stressed out big time planning my wedding, started smoking from the stress my STD vendor gave me. When in reality i did not need to even sent out STD's let alone 16 months before the wedding.
I stressed over FMIL issues, and everything worked out, I stressed out about my CRAZY insane family, who walked down with who, who got annouced with who.
I literally was in a Xanex coma during the 3 weeks before my wedding.
I Stressed about my Bridal Shower big time, I stressed about my Bachelorette party because the girls did not went to spend alot of money and i was jealous of the girls on this site doing amazing things for theirs. I had a great time and it all worked out in the end.
I obsessed about my wedding gown, i tried on hundreds changed my mind dozens of times, all for what, for it to be sitting filthy in the garment bag. I was a complete psycho when it came to wedding gown shopping
I gave myself gray hairs over this wedding but i would do it all over again.
Part of me is sad its over, i had all the events, E-party, Bridal Shower, Bachelorette party, Rehersal Dinner, Day after Brunch. And its literally totally over.
I get jealous that the 09 10 11 girls still have their weddings to plan, its difficult some times to come to terms that, that part of my life is over and there is a new part starting.
I think I was definately a bridezilla who stressed and put alot of people through alot of nonsense and drama and i will admit it and own up to it.
Weddings bring out soooo many emotions and feelings and its hard to keep those feelings in. They are good feelings and bad feelings, its all part of the planning process

LOL. I was one of those 08 Brides! We were engaged in Sept 2006 and had booked all of our major vendors by Feb 2007. But for us it was great, we saved a bit of money b/c the 08 prices weren't out yet and we had first pick of our vendors. Did we rush? Not really-we definitely worked steady on things though. Did we (mainly I) rethink things a thousand times over. Yes-but I would have done that anyway. I used this web site as a resource and it helped. But it can get the best of you. I have seen so many great touches added to weddings and have thought to myself I WANT THAT, but as cool as they are, some of them just didn't fit into our day or it just wasn't us.
I felt that this applied most with our photographer--we met with him one day and I had about 2 million 'must take pics' that I had collected among a million and one LIW Brides and he looked at me and said, we can take any picture you like but we like to recreate your day-not someone elses. And it's true- I use that little bit of advice to keep me grounded.

09er crashing....
I'm glad that some of the messages were changed because i can see how some of the 09,10,11 ladies would have been hurt. It definitely wasn't right for some of the ladies to 'call out' some of the threads that girls posted.
I definitely lurk on to the 08 page because I love to get new ideas for my own wedding. I am not stressed yet, but I love getting new ideas. That's what this site is all about.
Lets just end all the drama on both ends I look forward to hearing your opinions and suggestions on my wedding day.
Everyone has different situations... Sometimes when you read things on a computer they come out the wrong way because you can't actually hear the tone in their voice. Just remember that ladies (ALL the ladies, not just the 08ers)

I feel like this site makes me stress!!!!! I see girls with the same date as me booking things and I am thinking, OMG I need to book because everything will be unavailable by the time I go to book. I swear, the hair and makeup people I wanted to use are ALREADY booked for my date!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. My wedding is 466 days away!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to admit, if i had not been a bridesmaid in 8 weddings b/4 mine and this website was my first insight into planning a wedding, I would have had a stroke b/c of how advanced everyone was compared to me when i first joined over a year ago.
Like people have said before me, you do things at your own pace and everything will get done on time and everything will eventually fall into place. Whether you book something 18 months a head of time or 4 months b/4 the wedding, it will all work out in the end.
I actually have had a few posts, that now, b/4 i am even married, i look back at and think 'why the heck was i stressing about that' but this site has become such an escape and such a help for some of us girls, that we post w/o even thinking. we are all here to help eachother out b/c we all know what eachother is going through and we all understand when a bride starts flipping out b/c she does not like the font of her invitations (exactly what i am going through right now! )
In the end, we have these boards to look back on and to thank eachother when our big day arrives. This board is a past time and helps me get through the day.
To the 09, 10 and 11er.... dont worry u will understand what Kim was trying to say and not take such offense to it.... u will have enough DRAMA on ur own boards to not worry about what us 08er are saying......trust me.... The Drama Llama will be visiting u......

WOW! Totally uncalled for... Shopping for jewelry and stressing about it are two very different things.
In Kimbalina's defense, I really don't think she meant to offend with her OP. Everyone is reading into it WAY too much.

I have to say, i couldn't agree with you more. Most of the ladies have almost everything done already and I am SUPER jealous of them because i wish that were me. I feel like I am far behind but everyone DOES work on their own pace.
This site is supposed to be a help to brides and it is just that. Without some of you ladies, i wouldn't know what to do because I am new at this (08ers & my lovely 09ers)
Not only have i gotten such great ideas and advice from all of you, but I actually made FRIENDS on here. It's great.
So no more drama!!

Re: Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!
gabbie-it is nuts but that is the point lol. SO many of us who were on here from 2 years or more before our wedding date, saw other girls going to vendors and saying they were booked. Of course those of us who had specific vendors in mind, we wanted to guarantee to get them so we booked way ahead of time. I remember at first when i came on here, thinking people are crazy to book make up trials so far in advance lol. I really didnt get the point of it, but then i realized that ppl were doing this not to see how their make up will look day of but just to book a certain vendor. So when we heard these vendors were already booked for make up a year or more in advance, we all ran to hahahaha. It is crazy but in NY its reality. I remember seeing posts of girls who went to book an RH even 3 years before their wedding date and it was booked . Infact i booked my rh in october of 2006, and guess what they were booked for MOST of may. I was shocked. The day we were originally thinking of in may was already booked. He showed us his book and what he had available around the time we wanted. They only had one last weekend in april available, and one day in May. Then we thought about May 17th and let me say that somebody had already come in to look at the place for May 17th and same room. She asked them to put it in their book for her wedding but hadnt come back to give a deposit. Infact they said its been a while so we waited in the office while they were calling over to ask if shes going to book the date bc they cant keep telling ppl its booked when she hasnt officially booked it. Bc she wasnt responding is the only reason i was able to get May 17th, otherwise i wouldnt have really had many options for May. I would've had to do it at a later date

im trying to think if i have ever really been stressed out with the wedding planning - i mean i am sure i may have used the term loosely on here but IRL i dont think ive ever said that i was stressed out about the wedding - i mean yeah i may have gotten annoyed about something or worried for a little bit - but never so much that it ruined my day or made me feel like i was going to have a nervous breakdown - as a matter of fact wedding planning has been a pleasure - i really dont think anyone should be 'stressing out' about their wedding and i mean literally stressing out - that they cant sleep, cant eat, feel sick, constantly worry, cry, etc. i think many of us use the word 'stress' very loosely on here - i know at least i do - just something i noticed

for some its not just the planning itself. Its alot of NWR things going on around you that makes the wedding planning stressful. When you are dealing with other serious life issues outside of the wedding, then anything wedding related can just become annoying and you dont want to deal with it. I had this happen to me and this is what stressed me. I was dealing with something personal so i knew i had wedding things to do but during the fall and winter of 07 i had no desire to do it. I would then think 'oh god i need to get these things done already but i really couldnt concentrate on the wedding' so along with real life stresses i had the stress of putting planning behind and knowing certain things needed to get done. Then in January i had to have surgery, then february my dad had a heartattack and was in the hospital for a month and while i shouldve been getting my invites and finishing other things i am sorry but couldnt even think of doing anything else when i was going to work and straight to the hospital every single day to visit my father, march i broke my foot for about 6 weeks. Then it was end of april or more like beginning of may and i had so much to do but bc of everyting else that happened i wasnt able to. And thats not even half of other things i was going through. Some things i dont discuss on the boards but it wasnt easy. So for me there were times that anything i had to do for the wedding I DIDNT want to, i had other things going on and any wedding task was just an annoyance.
Other girls on here go through alot of other hard times outside of planning. Everyone is different, there are girls who have a parent in the hospital. Dealing with someone who has cancer or something else that is serious. You have someone who during the planning loses their job and now doesn't know how they will come up with the rest of the money when a couple is paying for a wedding themselves. Unfortunately, even if its supposed to be the happiest time of your life, that doesnt stop from tragic things happening. Everyone goes through a different process, and some have it easier than others

i def know what you mean about NWR things and stuff like losing a job/illness in the family/death - those things would stress anyone out whether they were planning a wedding or not - i guess you can say we are a little stressed because we are close to buying a house and that is NWR and can be nervewracking at times - what i meant was more of being stressed over picking a color, or flowers, or worrying if someones tattoo is going to show - i meant things like that, that are strictly wedding related that stress people out - for me i havent really let anything get to me yet - thats not saying that i havent been annoyed or upset but there hasnt been anything that i have agonized over for days KWIM?

well then you have ppl who have nothing to really stress so find little things to stress i guess hahahaha...although sometimes theres probably a bigger issue and they dont deal with that issue but stress with something small. I know last week i broke down and started crying about something so small. My Dh came home and was like OMG whats wrong are you ok, he had no idea what to do. I was crying bc the new printer i bought wasnt working, what happened was the cable went out the night before bc of work in the area and somehow disconnected the computer, then i re-installed and still wasnt working although was saying it was online. It took me 3 hours, but the thing is that i was actually frustrated about something else but i was so upset about this other thing that any little thing that went wrong all i thought was 'OMG nothing is going right in my life right now' so i was dumb to cry about something so stupid but it wasnt the real problem lol.
