Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!

Original post by Kimbalina

Have you looked at the stresses and delemia of the brides of the next 3 years?

I think it is probablly what we were thinking about when we started planning... but there are so many stressing threads on the BHB page,, it makes me laugh that they are concerned about their weddings that seem so far off! I know that this was us back in the 06/07 years!

Edt..because there is a good point made lower on this page

Edt- because I am not trying to hurt feelings!

Ps... I am leaving work at 2 and wont be on till tomorrow! Sorry dont want to post and run!

Agreed.

But I remember reading the 07 boards and seeing the chuckles and it hurt my feelings. Especially if my thread was one mentioned.

Example: PLENTY of us have worried about someone upstaging us at our wedding - and regardless of the exact details - that 2010 girl was worried about a possible upstager.

Now we all know it's not true, and will tell her not to worry - it's the condescension that kills me.

The whole 'ahahaha what a silly, stupid girl' posts.

09'er here. I am a teacher who would like to get most of my stuff done when I have time off. I am also finishing grad school this upcoming year. I really don't think that I or other brides should have to explain themselves. I think if 09, 10, 11 brides want to get things done early thats fine. to each their own. I think having time to judge them is just as 'funny' as people seem to think their threads are. What was the purpose of this post, to hurt people's feelings?

Iunderstand your point, but I do think the thread is unnecessary...Espesially labeling it 09,10, 11 calls for drama...espesially since the majority of us look to you girls for the advice we need.

Everyone comes from different backgrounds. Some have medical conditions you may not know about that getting the wedding stuff out of the way is a way to relieve their tension incase their conditons get worse closer to the wedding its done...

We have alot of teachers ont he boards also getting married in the summer, who, including myself, will be over whelmed, working 6 days a week and getting their masters...which means, this summer and june is all we really have. I have personal family issues, sick family members and we are in the process of renovating a house. So, getting our wedding things done with, was our top priority to make sure I don't get myself sicker closer to the wedding.

Again, I am writing this from my heart, just how I feel. Don't read it the wrong way...please.

Thanks for your imput.. but just like I mentioned in my first post at the top of the page it is been done I am SURE over the years as brides see other brides getting ready for their big day.
The poster above you, an 08 bride made a good point so I removed the examples from my origional post. So NO this is not a thread to hurt peoples feelings. I have never spoken to you and dont know you, so you do not know my intentions. No where else in this thread have I said that they are wrong.. I mentioned that 'IN MY EYES' something I would not do. It doesnt make it right or wrong.
As I work 70 hours a week I plan A LOT in advance and I know it takes time to get the wedding done. This thread was purly about observations and that I know it has been done in the past.
As I wind down on my wedding day, I can appreciate and giggle at other delemia's and think what I WENT THROUGH already.

Thanks for posting!

I am not going to repeat everything I just said in my last post. But YES everyone has situations that make them plan at a certain pace... I never said it was wrong and I am not apologzing for making a thread...as it has a big ole smiley face next to it. I am not calling the brides names or demeaning them... as I have already stated... WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE!!!!!
Ofcorse we are going to give advise and help when soliciated.. this isnt meant to hurt anyone.. but if it helps.. LOL I will change the title.

I dont think you were trying to hurt anyone. But I do think that the post can do some severe damage... and is why I try to hold back my feelings on things at times...because who am I to judge you know?

everyone is different & everyone has different priorities.

Re: Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!

I can understand 09ers stressing now. Time flies and 09 will be here sooner than we know it. But some of the posts are a little outrageous and make me giggle too. Just because I feel like some people get too carried away with the stressing and need things to be put into perspective for them. I can understand worrying about vendors and colors and invites but the posts about being upstaged by someone getting pregnant or someone bringing a disabled person are where the line gets crossed from genuine concern to outrageous.

I believe in negative energy. If someone is sitting here worried 2-3 years before their wedding, theyre anticipating something negative to happen. Which means if ANYTHING goes wrong theyre going to flip out just because theyve put it into their own mind for so long.

Re: Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!

i think its all part of the planning. We all at one point or another stressed something small and worried about things far in advance. It wouldn't be wedding planning if you didnt deal with all the craziness, at least that was my experience hahahaha

I think kim might be talking about the recent thread about a wedding 3 years away and somebody worried that someone else they are close to is going to try and give birth on their wedding day, not sure but maybe what sparked this lol. ALso i think kim just meant, remember when we were 2 years away and stressed about the same things, so dont take offense 09,10,11 ladies. Because she is saying that we all did the exact same thing, so not putting you down if we all did it too

Its easy for me now that i am already married to say how more than half the things we worried about wont matter that day, but i heard that advice all the time while i was still planning and didnt stop me from worrying. I can try to calm a bride to be down by telling her how it wont all matter that day and hope maybe it will sink in a little bit but i know she'll still worry. When you have a long engagement, no matter how far away the wedding is, your life revolves around it and you cant help but think of every detail. So just continue stressing everything lol you'll look back on all this and laugh one day and remember the crazy planning days, makes for some good memories well some bad memories too but in the end it will all be worth it

see now by you coming here and saying this you are just trying to make this thing ugly,

I read her OP but didnt respond, and I saw how it could have been misconstrued, but i dont think it was meant to be mean at all.

this is not intended for you, but this is a message board, and people have a right to post their concerns 1,2,3, or even 5 years in advance; and others also have the right to talk about things others posted and there is nothing wrong with that. Every topic is fair game, and I just think people are overly sensitive at times. Keep in mind you dont know these people (i know some have met & became friends) but most people arent, so you shouldnt let someone who you dont even know offend you. This is why we have real family and friends to depend on.

Id say shopping for something a year and a half before your wedding and STRESSING about it are two different things. I doubt she was crying over not being able to find jewelry that far in advance. Did you actually search for that?

Seriously?

That's just ridiculous.

Your 'research' not the fact that she shopped for DOJ.

Re: Remember when we.. had those stressors! Happy thread!

also no offense but LIW makes you feel you have to stress some things. I remember booking my florist 14 months before my wedding and i was telling DH 'OMG we have to go book soon' i kept looking at what other 08 ladies had done and kept thinking how far behind i am. Then you get worried that vendors won't be available for your day and that you NEED to get these things done. Florist was one of my last big vendors i booked and that was 14 months before, so i had other things booked before that. I booked photography 16 months before(this im glad bc she books quickly) if i never came on LIW, i dont know if i would've booked florist 14 months before my wedding.

So coming on here causes ppl to stress about things they normally wouldnt because they see other girls who already ordered invites far in advance and think they probably should to. I went through SOOOO much stress that my invites were very late and that i had to make them myself. While making them i was SO upset that i should've had my invites sent out weeks already. I see everyone sending out 2-3 months before the wedding and most 3 months before the wedding. I thought with 6-7 weeks i am screwed. ANd when i posted about this others said that i am going to have a hard time and its too close to the wedding. Guess what though, i looked at other brides getting married around the same time as me who sent out invites WAY before i did and i had gotten back more rsvps than they were getting. I was stressed for no reason, it was fine and worked out. Infact bc i sent out my invites about 6 weeks before the wedding, i got rsvps back immediately, i was getting about 12-15 a day, on slower days i would get about 8-10. By my rsvp date i had a few who didnt reply but not many at all.

Soooooooooo true. You handled that invite thing so WELL! And its crazy because if it had happened months before the wedding you might have freaked out more. But since it happened so close you had no choice but to calm down and get it done. The site does cause you to freak more!
