ring cleaning

ring cleaning

Do you ladies bring your ring to a jewler and have them clean it, or do you do a cleaner at your house. If so, which one do you use....
Also, how often do you clean it??

TIA

My mom is a jeweler so I just give it to her! Be careful with at home cleaners because I have heard of them tarnishing jewelry.

I prefer to bring mine to the jeweler. Every now and then I'll spruce it up with the home cleaner though

My ring is platinum (so i do not know if this can be used on any other metal) .. my jeweler said to buy a bottle of ammonia and put a few pumps of dish soap. Let the ring sit in there for a few minutes then use a very soft toothbrush to scrub. Then rinse with warm water. So far it has worked wonders on my ring.

I occasionally bring it back to the jewler to get cleaned...otherwise, I use an at home solution on a weekly basis

we do their work (barclays) prolly have seen your ring!

anyway warm soapy water works good. but we tell costumers to take their jewelery cleaner and hea it up (do not put jewelery in microwave!) and then let it sit for a while and then rinse... the heating of the liquid helps break up the soap and lotion or whatever is on there.

I have a jewelry steam cleaner at my house

i have one from bed bath and beyond for like $60 ish with the coupon... i use that in between cleanings at the jewelry store because they can get it so much cleaner!!!! i only take it there if i have somewhere big to be (e-party, e-pics, etc) or they offer to do it when i am there looking at other jewelry

Yeah, mine came from the city, so when I'm in the area I get it cleaned. At home I use jewlery cleaner that I have. Our jewelery consultant said you could use windex too.

Re: ring cleaning

My jeweler makes me come in at least once every week and a half to clean it but he gave me awesome advice on how to clean it on my own, I do it about twice a week.
Take a glass bowl and fill it with windex (plain old windex) until your ring is covered, use an old school soft toothbrush and clean it with the windex, drop it back in so it's submerged then pour boiling hot water over it, clean with toothbrush again and then rinse off with warm water. It literally makes it sparkle!!!! Best tip ever!

I take mine to Jared. They do it for free even though my ring isn't from there. They are really nice and it comes out super sparkly! I usually go once a month or so.

I can bring my ring to the jeweler as often as I'd like to get cleaned but I'm a little busy for that..
