FH opted for a smaller diamond of a higher quality when he was given the choice - though my ring is a very nice size.

the higher the quality, the brighter the diamond, the bigger it looks on your finger. you get bigger wattage out of a higher quality diamond over a lower quality bigger stone.


FH said the same thing. We had talked about diamonds months before we got engaged and I had mentioned I didn't want anything over a carat. My ring is .90 carat instead of a full carat, because FH said the quality of the diamond was soooo much nicer then the 1.2 carat diamond and it looked much better in the setting he chose as well. I have to say, my ring is absolutley perfect, I wouldn't change it for the world!

I always said that I wanted this big ring and I could not have been happier-after seeing it I would have been very happy with smaller and perfect-but I got both :)

Quality all the way! I've seen some big rings that just look bad. And I've seen some smaller stones that are amazing!

i guess it's all relative! if you gave me the option of a half carat diamond, D in color and internally flawless, versus a 2 carat diamond, F/G in color, VVS2/VSI clarity, I would go with the later.

I would say quality too. Theres not much of a difference between theses two to the naked eye. My ring is a G VVS2 and it looks amazing.
