Rrrrrrrrrrrrr

Rrrrrrrrrrrrr

I was going to make a cheesecake tonight. While I was melting caramel I went on a search for the box of sugar I bought 2 weeks ago and couldn't find it. During this search the caramel burned. I don't have time to try again tomorrow night and have a big mess to clean up.

I am so frustrated

Re: Rrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks everyone

I just have a feeling DH put the sugar someplace weird and will pull it out of the freezer or something tomorrow

Allure - I got the caramels in Waldbaums. I used the Wether's original soft caramel chews. I had to buy three 6 oz bags and sort of guessed on the quantity to get the 14oz. There's also this stuff called..La Lechera that is the caramel/evaporated milk. I couldn't find it in the store though.

Just some tips I found - grease the sides of the pan as well, bake the brownie part for 15 minutes instead of what the original recipe calls for and chill the caramel before putting the cheesecake mixture. Oh, and put the whole springform pan on a baking sheet - I had some leaky caramel the last time I made it.

Ok, you won't believe this!! I found enough sugar packets in the cabinet to make half a cup and I proceeded with the cake. We'll see how it turns out on Thursday.

Thanks for all the support!!!!!!

I've never made cheesecake, so forgive me if this sounds ignorant. Why do you need caramel to make cheesecake?

Re: Rrrrrrrrrrrrr

Last night I was cooking dinner and my FH's little girl started screaming so I left the water heating on the stove and picked her up. She calmed down when we found some Wiggles stuff online. About 5 minutes later, the smoke alarm went off - I had turned the wrong burner for the water on and the pumpkin bread that I was cooling next to the stove had caught fire! I don't think I'm going to be the best stepmom!

Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone, particularly regarding cooking!

Going for the little girl is a good step mom move! Sorry about the pumpkin bread though

Smolokoff - I made a brownie caramel cheesecake - that's what it was for.
