One of my oldest friends warned me today she is coming with her dog. Not a service dog, just a little dog who goes in a carrier. I said I am not sure venue allows dogs....she said no one will notice! This is at my California reception which is at a cafe with a deck. I think this beats RSVP with baby!

Oh my you have me totally freaked now. One of my bridesmaids has a <2lb dog that she brought to my engagement party. What if she brings him to the wedding too?? Can you imagine the bridal party photos with the dog purse in them...not to mention, can you bring a dog in to a church??
P.S. That's crazy that your friend 'warned' you instead of asking!!

OMG!?! I would figure out a way to quickly and politely tell her that the wedding reception is for humans only and that the board of health will not allow your reception venue to have animals on-site where the food is being served and she should make alternative arrangements.
That is just weird...no offense to anyone with a small dog....but I HATE when I am in the grocery store or the mall and people have those little yappy pain in the butt dogs in a pocket book! Its crazy!

Maybe I am just a B**** but I would tell her NO. It's your wedding day, do you really want to take any chances that the staff there won't harass your friend or someone else and have a big commotion over a little dog on your big day... (LOL!)

P.S. I am in love with my dog and I take her everywhere she is possibly allowed to go but I think this is just absolutely ridiculous!!!! I would never even think to doing such a thing. The audacity!

ok i LOVE dogs - i wish my dog could be at our wedding but this is just weird - and i know that the nobody can really take away from the bride but im sure that your guests will notice her and 'the dog'....the last thing i would want at my wedding was my guests fussing over someone cute dog - jmo

I would absolutely 100% tell her she can NOT bring her dog!! I love dogs, but ya know what, not at my wedding that i'm paying an are and a leg for!!! tell her some peope are allergic.... that might change her mind. I don't even care if sounds like I'm being a b****, NO DOGS ALLOWED!!!!

ummmmm yyyyeah - you need to tell her that thats not happening. Is she serious??? who does that?? totally rude and absurd to think that its just ok to bring her DOG to someone elses wedding. I mean, i adore my dogs but I would never suggest (or TELL) someone I am bringing them to their wedding! Just say your hall doesnt allow it and thats that. Personally, I wouldnt even say that. I would just say - you're not bringing your dog to my wedding. This floors me.

Man... here I am worried about extra children and adults and I have to worry about DOGS too?! Nope, no way... I'd do as others mentioned and state that some of my guests are highly allergic and you'd be violating the health code.

I would let her know that dogs will not be allowed because of health code reasons (usually dogs that are not seeing eye dogs are not permitted because you can't have dogs near the food). Don't even know if your cafe has this policy, but the deck is still part of the restaurant.
And what if the dog gets out of its carrier? It has to pee eventually, right? Do you want that dog anywhere near your dress?
