rsvp W/ dog!!!!!!!

Original post by Newsysuzy12

One of my oldest friends warned me today she is coming with her dog.
Not a service dog, just a little dog who goes in a carrier.
I said I am not sure venue allows dogs....she said no one will notice!
This is at my California reception which is at a cafe with a deck. I think this beats RSVP with baby!

Re: rsvp W/ dog!!!!!!!

My biggest concern is that they just won't let her in, and she will have traveled for nothing.
I guess at that point they could take it back to the hotel, or tie it up outside. It's on a street with a lot of traffic though.
This is a venue that usually doesn't do weddings, so I don't want to upset them!!!!
I am deathly allergic to cats, so I relate to the concern.
The funny thing is she used the same line as someone who is bringing a baby....'don't you want to meet my baby'?

That's so rude (not to mention wierd!!)!. I would tell her she can't bring it. Imagine someone at your wedding is just as allergic to dogs as you are to cats... it's very inconsiderate on her part to 'warn' you, but if you allow her to bring him, it's inconsiderate to your guests. Yikes! Good luck figuring this one out!

***

now that definitely takes the cake

tell her NOOOOOOOOOO, first of all say they definitely do not allow dogs and with waiters constantly around the table they will notice, what is she gonna do if the dog barks, and little dogs like to get out and run around they dont just sit there in the bag for hours. Its your wedding so she needs to listen when you tell her NO DOGS.

no effing way--put your foot down and say NO

this kind of behavior REALLY pisssses me off. i don't care how many freaking outfits you put on an animal, or how much you treat it like a human and you're 'baby' -- they are NOT people and therefore they are not permitted everywhere you go. people who just say 'i plan on bringing my animal cause its my baby' are disgustingly rude and presumptious and extremely selfish.

Re: rsvp W/ dog!!!!!!!

We were best friends for about 15 years...and then we drifted. She was mortally upset she was not a bridesmaid, and I have finally calmed her down after two months.
She lives in LA, and has some sort of tiny dog rescue service.
The venue is about 50 percent outdoors, on the waterfront, and we are not having assigned seating. It is in San Francisco where, I guess anything goes.
She says she will keep the dog in it's carrier the whole time.
I really tried to talk her out of it, but this is the first time we spoke since she threw her fit.
I am really hoping her boyfriend has some common sense and shoots her down, but I guess in LA she goes everywhere with this dog.

I don't get why she can't have someone watch it. I mean what is she going to do when she wants to go dance and stuff. Or even when she's eating.....will the dog need a seat too!!!

I would be so angry and not allow it. Especially because she didn't bother to ask, she just TOLD you. That is so rude!

Isn't there a law that says that restaurants can't have pets? I would try to tell her that because food is being served animals are not allowed on the premises.

Very well said

I love animals but i am sorry you dont bring it where others are eating. It is just very rude and it doesnt belong at a wedding.

Some people are too self involved to think about others. Does she think about the fact that somebody might be allergic to the dog, and shes willing to ruin their night just to bring her dog

my dh is allergic to certain dogs and badly. Theres somebody who insists that their dogs stay by us when we eat, first of all they start licking my food and put their faces right in it, i cant eat after that and the person just stares like its nothing, i dont get it. Then for the rest of the night my DH's eyes are swollen and he feels horrible from the allergies, all bc this person insists on their dog eating around us.

Not only that but if you said NO then she needs to be respectful about that, she cant fight that.

OMG, I can't believe people.
I have a small dog, and I love her to death and I do take her with me to a lot of places, but I would never think of taking her to a wedding. And it's not fair to her dog, what is she going to leave her in the bag all night, what about food and going to the bathroom and all. I would tell her NO!!!

What is she thinking! Does her dog usually travel? Maybe you can say that it is going to very stressful on her dog...
