My FH was minutes away from leaving for his Bachelor party on Saturday night when he found out one his good friends who was supposed to meet them out that night died. He was the fireman--Joey Graffignino---that was killed in the fire downtown on sat. My FH was devastated. He locked himself in his room and was so upset he didn't want to go, but 16 guys were waiting for him outside in the limo and he couldn't really cancel. So he reluctantly went and it put a damper on the whole night. I feel so bad for FH. He works so hard and never gets to go out and this was going to be his one fun night. I feel even worse for Joey's family. Instead of favors we are making a donation to them for the wedding. Won't make up for them losing their dad and husband, but hopefully it will help. Say prayers. thanks

This story is so tragic....My FH and brother are in the FDNY. It is so scary being a fireman's wife b/c you never know. You just got to remember that they are doing what they love. I think a donation is a wonderful idea....when a fireman dies all of FDNY goes into mouring so know that their families are not alone during this horrible time.

That is a great idea to honor him with a donation......I was at a BBQ saturday when we got the news the 2 fireman had passed. FH started making phone calls right away to find out who the 2 men were since he is a fireman. I went in to try and catch it on the news and when I came outside and told him the names his face dropped. It runs out the FH knew Joey for years. They werent best friends or anything but definitely somebody he would hang out with from time to time. Needless to say we left the BBQ after that and FH was depressed for the rest of the weekend. It is so terrible how these things happen. I was asking FH a ton of questions because naturally now I am so nervous about his job. His job always makes me nervous but this just confirms it.
How are you making a donation? Is there a foundation or something?

That is sad... My fiance and I know his pregnant sister though people..She is married to the brother of a good friend of my fiance's...

OMG....I am so sorry for your FH! That is terrible! I think it is such a sweet thing to donate in his friend's name!

I am so sorry to hear that. FH is a volunteer on long island and i worry everytimehe goes to a call. I will pray for you and your fh and also the families of the fallen firefighters
