-The point of marriage is to produce children. gay marriage is not natural biologically.

I am for it.
But this arguement REALLY pisses me off! Makes no sense. If a man or woman in a couple is unable to have children, does that mean THEY should not get married either?? So stupid.

Or what about a man and woman who choose not to have children? Why should they be allowed to marry then?

pretty scary, but the Catholic church will grant an annulment to a couple who CANnot have children. My cousin and his wife were in this situation. She's VERY religious and knew that her husband could annul the marriage if he wanted to (of course he didn't because he loves his wife), and they have since adopted 2 children.

Actually, the church sorta makes you 'promise' that you DO want to have children before they'll marry you. So technically, in the eyes of the church, if you don't WANT to have children, you shouldn't be getting married.

Yes, the Catholic church.

Considering the divorce rate, maybe same-sex couple are really the ones who have gotten it right!!!! Obviously we heteros don't seem to know what we're doing....!

Oh, so I am all for it, BTW.

Re: Same Sex Marriage

This is a topic that honestly confuses me! I cant give an honest answer because I have feelings both ways. I agree that if two people love each other than whether it is two men or two woman or a heterosexual couple it shouldn't matter. My uncle was gay and a very dear friend is gay but growing up in todays society kinda clouds the situation for some like myself. I feel very uncomfortable seeing two of the same sex being intimate with each other however without that element it has never seemed to bother me. Like I said Im very confused about it but this is me being honest not claiming that I don't have a problem with it because I have friends or relatives that are. FH aunt is in a relationship with another woman and they have recently adopted a little boy and I think that is great only because this was a baby who had no one and now all that matters is that he has two people who love him very much! I also could not answer honestly how I would feel if one of my children were gay because right now I think it would bother me because of my religion and society but if it were to actually happen I couldnt imagine not being a part of their life because I was confused with it. JMHO

I am for it.

I work in an industry that is very gay friendly (arts, specifically dance and ballet) and many of my friends and acquaintances are gay. My thought is that there is so much animosity against gay relationships, if a couple manages to stay together against the odds, they deserve all of the benefits of that commitment.

I know a couple who have adopted a baby and they are just so in love with him. There are so many children in the world who don't even have one person to love them, this little boy has two parents who are committed to him and committed to one another - what more can anyone ask for?? They are wonderful people inside and out - who am I, or anyone else for that matter, to deny them the right to be together in a legal and binding way. It seems to me, that they're doing something 'right' and honorable by wanting to commit to one another...why punish that???

I just don't understand how anyone could be against it...JMO

If two people are in love, why shouldn't they be able to take it to the next level? I have heard the idiotic argument that if we let gays marry, then will people be able to marry their animals? Yeah because gay couples are on the same level of animals. Idiots.

Thank you for your honesty!!!! I think that this right here is an unspoken reason for so many people that are against gay marriage. I think that too many people think about the physical aspect instead of the actual marriage.

I can't believe that this is even still an issue...I feel like it would solve so many other issues if marriage was allowed. It would not force gay people to marry into opposite sex relationships, leading to infidelity, disease, and heartache.

so far there's 20ppl who are against it. why are those who are against so unspoken? i must honestly say that it aggravates me. why can't we marry or be with whom we choose? isn't this all a matter of choice? and how does this effect 'the against's livelyhood. are you afraid this may confuse who? make me understand you.

o my goodness.. this touched a nerve in me. it's an open forum. by god and some politicians.. you won't be crucified

I think the people who said they are opposed to it seems like a surprisingly low number to me. I don't know, maybe I come across a lot of people against it in real life?

Re: Same Sex Marriage

I have to be honest I have mixed emotions about it. I do not know anyone personally who is gay so I can only talk in an old fashioned way (as todays standards go).

I think if people are in love Im happy for them. Then on the other hand I dont see it. If you need the comfort and support of an individual of the same sex fine, but marriage in my opinion is for opposite sexes. You do not need marriage to prove you love one another. its just a piece of paper.

Im for it it and against it. I did not mark anything on the poll, cause I did not see a point. Again, just my opinion.

My opinion is that if its your life you should be able to live it the best way that you feel like meaning I respect it because I wouldn't want no else telling how to live my life.

But it's just a piece of paper, why do so many heterosexual couples want it? It's more than that.

again its my opinion. Why heterosexual couples want the piece of paper I do not know I can not answer for people. I could do with out it and there are many other people who can to. After 7 yrs in NY its called common-law, for heterosexual couples. The reason we got our piece of paper was our family is old fashioned and from the other country.

Re: Same Sex Marriage

Well, I think only by marriage can a person put their significant other on their health insurance, etc. It seems only fair. Some of these gay couples have adopted children together and have a family unit, so I don't see why they should be denied that.
