Re: San Souci

The website, for some reason, hasn't been up for about 6 months. I am not sure why. If you go to www.weddingfacilitiesandservices.com, search for Sans Souci you'll find one or two pictures and a sample menu. My wedding was there about a month ago and they were absolutely amazing - I'd recommend them to anyone.

Re: San Souci

I'm glad everyone has had such nice things to say about San Souci. I'm getting married there on December 1st. I'm going this week to discuss the menu with them. Which option did you choose for the cocktail hour: 1) the 10 pass arounds or 2) 2 serving stations and 6 pass arounds ? Also, any suggestions for which pass arounds to choose.

Re: San Souci

I think they quoted me $95 on a Saturday nightand $85 on a Friday night in August. I thought the price was amazing considering how great the food was and how pretty the place was.

Re: San Souci

nycshari-
Pickng out the menu is so much fun.
As for the cocktail hour, I wanted 10 passed and husband wanted 6 passed and two stations. So we went with his choice since he loves cocktail hours. I am so glad we did because the stations were pretty popular. I cannot really remember what we chose for passed- i just remeber making sure there was a bit of everything- meat, chicken, vegetarian etc.

Re: San Souci

Merv, I think I'm leaning towards having the 2 stations. How about for dessert, did you upgrade or just serve the cake? My wedding is on Sunday night and I think alot of people will possibly have left before the dessert is even served. There's non stop eating all day, I'm not sure it's necessary. What did you do?

Re: San Souci

I think we are going to have the 2 stations and the 6 pass arounds. I tried so many good things at the tasting and now I can't remember any of them!! I do remember that the Peking Duck station was fantastic, but I think it is an upgrade. I liked everything I ate, so I think you'll be fine with whatever you choose. Have you picked out your linens yet? Did you go with the package centerpieces or upgrade?

Re: San Souci

Here's what I did with the menu . . .
We did the 2 stations (Stir-fry - chicken and Crepes - seafood). I heard the crepes were amazing.
Six passed - brie w/raspberry preserves, scallops wrapped in bacon (got rave reviews), eggplant cakes, 'the tower' (port. mush, tom, basil, crostini bread, etc.), thai beef skewers - I forget what else.
1st course: Penne A La Vodka
2nd course: Mixed greens with goat cheese, pignoli nuts and a pear vinegrette dressing
Dinner - Premier Menu:
Chateau Briand in Port Wine Sauce (many compliments on this dish)
Thai-Encrusted Chillean Sea Bass (amazing!!! - I actually ate my dinner!)
Chicken Chardonnay
Dessert:
Cake (chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse filling)
Added Seasonal berries and fresh whipped cream - Almost no one ate these! Not really worth the extra $600 but a lot of people said it was a nice touch. I would definitely not recommend doing the dessert cart - it is too cramped in there.
I paid $80 per person for a Friday night last month for the premier (best) menu. I was quoted $100 per person for Saturday night (also the Premier menu). This place is SO worth it!!!! You will be so happy with your choice. Every single person at the wedding raved about everything and asked me where I found the place. I think it was my best decision of all.
Good luck!

I'm printing your selections and will take them with me next week. What about the dessert? Did you upgrade or just serve the wedding cake?

Re: San Souci

We got the seasonal berries with the whipped cream. No one really ate them (they were too full) but people thought it was a nice touch - I guess not really worth the extra $600 ($4/person). I would NOT recommend the dessert cart - too cramped and people are all dancing while they serve dessert. .
They give you so much food that you don't really need more at dessert time.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Good luck! It is so much fun!!!

Re: San Souci

Lesley, I met with Donald Hedgecock 2 weeks ago and decided to go with the house flowers that were included in the package.

Re: San Souci

I used Donald Hedgecock. I upgraded to a big bowl of sunflowers - it was $15/table - not bad. I was a little upset after I saw some pictures of centerpieces that had sunflowers that were missing a significant amount of petals. I thought that was a little cheesey. I also wasn't very happy with my bouquets. Mine was much smaller than the BMs' (?) and the BMs had big orange bows on theirs (I gave him a swatch of the burgandy BM dresses). I still saved a ton of $ so I guess it wasn't too bad -

Re: San Souci

Meghan,
I'm sorry to hear about the flowers. I'm planning on going with Donald b/c I have heard good things about him, but your post does give me cause to pause. What flowers did you use in your bouquet?

I picked up his flyer on his wedding packages and the flowers for the wedding party seemed really, really reasonable. On the flyer it said you had your choice of flowers and I am just wondering if maybe if you choose more expensive flowers you end up with a smaller bouquet than you would have expected. Do you think that's what happened to you?

I think I'm going to stick w/ the centerpiece package flowers. It seems like it's one of the few places where I can save some $$.
