Re: San Souci
That's why I stuck with the centerpieces that were included. It was one place to save some $$$. I also have heard good things about him. I'm sorry you weren't thrilled with everything he provided. His packages are just so affordable for Sans Souci brides, it's hard to pass them up. He's also very nice to deal with.

Re: San Souci
Just wanted to chime in - my wedding was there about 5 months ago.Food was phenominal. We did the deluxe menu and didn't regret it. Our price was $85 per person. We had a Saturday afternoon wedding in May. We had prime rib, thai crusted Chilean Sea Bass (which we both ate and it was sooo gooood) and chicken chardonnay. Everyone said their food was delicious.
For cocktail hour we did 2 stations and 6 passed. The stations were a huge hit. I have the menu written somewhere if someone is interested I'll post my selections as the cocktail hour was amazing (we had it outside).
We had the cake in a simple design - that was at the request of hubby - but it was simply gorgeous to us and tasted excellent. We also added an extra dessert - the french crepes with vanilla ice cream and a raspberry sauce. I think it was an extra $4.50 per person. However, the mass exodus started after the cake was served, so we saw many, many of the extra desserts just laying on the table going to waste. So although it added a nice touch, I have to agree that it was just too much and we could have done without it.
The florist - Donald Hedgecock - did a super job with our table centerpieces. I was more than happy. I went with a local florist for my bo-k and bouts, so I can't comment there. But for being included in the price, the table centerprices were wonderful.
Feel free to email me or send forum mail. I will answer any questions the brides to be may have. It a great place and I recommend it highly.

Re: San Souci
Sorry it took me so long to reply . . .I used all calla lillies in my bouquet along with some red berries. For the BMs, we used burgandy and orange calla lillies. Don't get me wrong, the flowers themselves were beautiful. I was just unhappy with the big orange bows and the fact that my bouquet was significantly smaller than the BMs'. I am sure that if you specify everything with him, you will be fine. I gave him a swatch of the BM dresses but didn't say flat out that I wanted the ribbon to match somewhat. I also didn't specify that I wanted my bouquet larger than the BMs (I kind of thought that was a given but maybe not). For the price, the flowers were incredible. We got:
1 bridal bouquet (calla lillies, berries)
1 MOH bouquet (calla lillies, berries)
5 BM bouquets (calla lillies, berries)
3 nosegays for moms (calla lillies)
2 corsages for grandmothers (roses)
11 bout's for groom, gm, dads and grandfather(calla lillies for groom and gm, fresia for dads and grandfather)
15 centerpieces ($15/table upgrade - sunflowers)
2 altar arrangements (assorted fall flowers)
10 pew ribbons with calla lillies
arrangement for ladies room (assorted flowers)
all arrangements that he places around the reception room (assorted flowers)
Cake flowers (calla lillies)
Total cost: just under $1000
I thought that was incredible, especially since we used an expensive type of flower. I would definitely go with him again on the table arrangements. I guess I would go with him on the bouquets too . . . I just regret not being extremely specific about a few things.

Re: San Souci
Did any of you take your formal pictures at Sans Souci before the ceremony. I am having a problem arranging a place to take my formal pictures. The photographer said that she would not recommend doing them at Sans Souci? Did any of you take formals there and if you did, how'd they come out. Thanks for your help.

Re: San Souci
I guess you could say we took our formal shots at the Sans Souci. We took most of the bridal party shots at the Church and then we went right to the Sans Souci. Since we got married in May and it was a gorgeous day, we took most of our shots on the lawn over looking the water. They came out really nice as a backdrop. We did this because we had no time between the ceremony and reception. It worked out well for is.As for taking pictures in doors at the Sans Souci, I am not too sure if there's a great back drop. However, there is the Harrison House in nearby Glen Cove that we also stayed at. I believe Meg09-20-02 took her pictures there. However, they also aren't too keen on you taking poictures there unless you are their bride. But it's a great place for pictures.

Re: San Souci
Hi there,I also got married in May and did my pictures at the church, Roslyn Duck pond, and outside the Sans Souci. I don't really know where you would take them inside- maybe you can stop by in the next few days and look around for a backdrop.

Re: San Souci
That's the problem that photographer mentioned to me. There is no backdrop to take the photos. Since the wedding is 12/1, I can't count on taking outdoor pictures. I really don't know what to do.Welcome New Vendors
