Scary blue spider--anyone ever seen one?

So our new place was infested with bugs. I bug bombed the inside, but the outside porch is crawling with them. Today I saw in the bushes a teal-blue spider, really brightly colored, unlike any spider I have ever seen before. Anyone ever seen one like it, or know if it is dangerous? TIA! I HATE spiders, but FH is an insect freak and would not let me kill it 'because it is too beautiful.'

I say stomp first and ask questions later.

I have never seen a blue one... killed a green one the other day. I don't like green.

Sorry had to let that out...FH wont let me kill them either but I do anyway...not enough room in here for me and THEM...

I saw a blue lobster in Mystic CT. (Aquarium)
He's a one in a million lobster.
They keep him in a cage by himself.

FH says it is an orb spinner (the web was a perfect circle). I did a search a couldn't find any info. on blue orb spinners though...I emailed an entomology professor at the college I went to to ask about it--if we discovered a new kind maybe it'll get named after us!

No--it was very bright blue teal, and the 4 legs on each side were more evenly spaced than in that picture (not 2 very close together)....I didn't have my camera on me, but if it is there again I definitely want to take pictures. Then kill it It was so funny, FH left the place before I did and he called later and said, 'You didn't kill it, did you?!' I was like no...(I was afraid to go near it!).

They say spiders are the sign of a clean house!
Plus, they eat all the other yucky bugs we really don't want around.

C'mon Julz! We're waiting!!

OK.. like 3 years ago I caught a bunch of spiders and kept them as pets. I gave each spider its own 'home' which was a soda bottle. I started feeding them ants because they were easy to catch but then I saw that they really liked to eat flies, so I started cathcing flies using a cup. I did it so much that now I can catch flies with 2 fingers! I got so quick from all that practicing. Then I got a video camera and filmed on super zoom the spiders eating the flies. I names the video 'When Spiders Attack'
All my friends and family think I am strange but I think it is so cool. I was going to send my tape into animal planet.

I have no comment but Although its not my cup of tea who am I to pick on the interests of others?
What ever happened to your pet spiders? and do you still have your video?

I let the spiders go at the end of that summer.
I don't catch them anymore but everytime I see a wb I am tempted to throw a bug in!

Wow! Thats some story! I give you a lot of credit -- because I cannot even get close to a spider to even kill it--not any bug for that matter especially Silverfish---Yuck! Gross! Eww! !
