Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

FH likes this idea, but I'm not sure about it. We would do something like this:

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

At first I thought it was cute too, but the more I think about it, the more I think it is cheesy and tacky. But of course, now that I have changed my mind FH thinks it is a great idea.

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

I think it might be cute along with some candies or something. It's a little tacky, but it's a little fun too.

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

Ok, it's decided then. NO lotto tickets. If FH tries to fight me on this one, I'll just have to show him this thread!

cmc-when told FH i thought it was cheesy, he said, 'but, wouldn't it be cool if someone actually won some money?'

I appreciate your honesty everyone! You've all just confirmed what I was thinking anyway.

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

A friend of mine did this and used a win for life ticket. She attached a little quote about how they won for life when they met each other, etc. I thought it was cute, not tacky at all. One person at my table won $20!

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

like christinec68 posted, i think they can be cute, if they are done correctly. honestly - most people toss their favors in the garbage anyway - this is at least a good conversation piece at the table.

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

I think it is a great idea. But in addition to it as a guest, I would hope you were making a donotion to some orginization. That is because scratch offs are only $1 a piece, so take those few extra dollars you would put into a favor into a donations.

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

I think it's cute..but I would make sure guests received them at the end of the night. I wouldn't want people scratching lotto tickets during the reception

Re: Scratch off lotto tickets as favors?

I did lottery tickets for my favor. We had the lottery tickets affixed on the inside of a tented - place-card looking thing (if that makes sense). There was a little poem on the outside and the inside and a ribbon at the top. The card was plain white with black engraved writing and a black engraved castle on the outside. We had the same person do it that did our placecards and program. In all, they were really alot more than $1/piece. One was placed at each place setting.

IMO, I would LOVE to receive this as a favor. It is totally original and not a little knick-knack that will sit in my junk drawer until it is tossed.

Also, please tell me because I really don't see it, what is tacky about this???

I just pictured my Aunt Cathy walking from table to table swiping other people's lotto cards when they're not looking...watch out!
