Seating idea I thought was cool

I got this idea from my videographer.. I thought it was cool and I wanted to pass it on.. It about seating...

One thing I never liked at wedding's was that when you were gettting seated.. you had a number on your table.. and I always felt kinda weird being sat at table 17.. or table 14.. you know what I mean..

Basically it was kinda interprested by me as.. 'You're family.. but there are others who are closer...' and that's cool I totally understand that.

But when I heard this idea.. I thought it was pretty neat.. because I'm just too damn sensitive to other's peoples' friggin feelings.. hehe

A couple had a wedding with a NYC theme.. and they named all the tables after places in New York.. For example, there was the Grand Central table, The Met, etc. and I thought that was pretty cool.

My FW and I are trying to make the wedding as romantic as possible.. and I think I want to the same concept.

I don't know why.. I just like the idea of naming the tables. Sure it may take extra work or $$$.. but it seems cool.

Allright.. that's enough sensistivity crap.. is there a hockey game on? LOL

We just finished our table names and frames. We decided to name each table after something of significance in our relationship, places we have been together, where we met, where we got engaged, our favorite Broadway play, etc... you get the idea!

I LOVE this idea, but have no clue where to begin. We are having an autumn themed wedding, can't really think of names that go with that theme----maybe different places that are beautiful in the fall? with pictures? too complicated HELP!! you guys have such great ideas!!

Table names are nice, if you do a search you will find tons.

I agree.. Most of the brides here, inc. myself, used table names..

We agreed to do a NY theme last year right when we got engaged, b/c he proposed on top of the Empire State building. And we said we were going to do photos on the table and each place card (we're making them ourselves) just do do something unique!! Great idea!

FH and I have been thinking about doing a NY-Chicago theme, since I am from NY and he is from Chi.

My side would have tables named after Chicago landmarks or communities and his side would be named after NY landmarks or communities.

I also like idea of using words that describe our feelings on our wedding day or characteristics of a good marriage.

I agree.. your Wedding should be a reflection of you and your spouse.

Except if you're swingers.. then you shouldn't name your tables after other swingers... LOL

Then again.. it's YOUR wedding.. go ahead.. surprise grandma.

We are doing vineyard names for our tables, I agree with the whole number thing myself.

I'm thinking of doing it in ABC order. It will be easier for the guests to find.

Octgroom - i LOVE the football theme. DH and I walked into the room to the music from Monday Night Football :) My family, including myself are die hard football fans - they would have laughed if we named the tables after NFL teams or even our favorite players.

I say go for it

I like the idea of table names too. I think we're going to do emotions having to deal with relationships: love, friendship, compassion, patience, etc..

It IS a fun idea.. except I couldn't sit at The Cowboys table.. as a Giants fan.. no that just won't do. hehe

Allright.. scratch the porn stars motif.. that won't do at all... haha JUST KIDDING!!!

A lot of people do it to make the reception more personalized or to go with a theeme, btu I like it for the same reason, peopel wont' get offended by table #. There are afew crazy older fols at or who this might actually be a concern for.

I thought FH would think this was insane, but he said' i'm good of that- we do that with networks & printers all the time' just give me a category. . .
then after tryign to come up with one, we were at a aloss. If we can think of something, we'll do it.

Now I'm thinking types of cheese, sicne we both lvoe it so much, but that doesn't really go with the rest of the wedding.
