Oh, and I garauntee that if one of the Bush daughters was pregnant as a result of a rape Mr. President would change his tune a little. You'd see how fast hat pregnancy would be terminated.

you can guarnatee this?? really? i find that interesting, why do you think they would have an abortion? more importantly, why do you think their father would force them to abort the baby that resulted from a rape? what if it wasn't rape? what then?

c'mon, who's kiding who here...do you really think that if one of them were raped and kept the illigitimate baby it would be a welcome addition to the Bush's Sunday mass? Do you truly think that the unwed and pregnant daughter of the president wouldn go unnoticed and would be approved by his staunch Republican buddies who have verbally declared their disapproval for unwed pregnant women? Doubtful to say the least.

still...hyptheticals...IMO aren't very good arugments

see, so its not like it would be the worst thing to hit DC. in all honesty i have to say that, imo, i don't think that any of us would know what to do if we were in that situation. i respect other people opinions, i just don't like to hear people say that they know what others would do.

You are absolutely right in that many of us wouldn't know what to do if we were in the situation and thank God I have never had to face that decision. However, I still feel confident that the Bush family's views on the subject might change if faced with the issue up close. JMO!

Re: Sensitive topic but curious to know..

My husband travels to China quite often (he's an importer) and has Chinese partners that reside in China. The reason why so many Chinese leave the country is because of health care. China's sucks. South Korea & Japan's health care is far superior.
So thats teh only reason why they leave..come on now. Thats like saying all immigrant come here to find work..

People have different experiences. Truth is The West is shielded from certain information. Its just like Haitians and Voodoo..many people dont say they are hatian due to the negativity around it..even teh government is trying to downplay it due to the country's image..but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen..

And if you seriously think that alot of our soldier's arnt screwed up like some in vietname then i would like you to come to me the next time I visit the VA in brroklyn. If its one thing I can tell you is that I dont get my opinions based on speculation.

Military exposure and civilian exposure to information are two different sides of the coin..trust me.

PS..I have numerous friends that did tours in Korea and they came back just fine.

Count your blessings that they came back fine..not all do..especially when you are in a hardship tour during pending war actvity..totally different. The emotional stability of the soldier..job, rank..these are all factors. I have seen people jump off buildings and shatter knee caps to go home..they do but since its a self inflicted injury they get no benefits. And friendly fire..you know the line..when a military person shoots someone 'accidentally..need I say more...

Second, Kerry is a Catholic. I'm not sure how I can reconcile that with the fact that he supports partial birth abortion.

If anyone has any opinions on this, I am interested in hearing them.

What Kerry supports is the woman's right to choose what to do with her body. Yes, he is Catholic, but he does not impose his religious beliefs on others. He believes it is the WOMAN'S right to choose what can be done to her body, not his.

Maybe everyone should butt out of everyone elses lives. If a woman decides to have an abortion it is between her and her God or conscience. I don't know why it is anyone elses business or concern.

Kerry voted no on partial birth abortion ban because it was a blanket ban. It did not allow for instances when the mother's health might be in danger due to complications from the pregnancy. I understand his reasoning on this issue. I want to have a child, but I don't want to be told that I have to have it if my life is at a high risk.

Wow!! I have been away for a few hours and can't believe how many people have posted...after reading through many posts one thing i wanted to add....

Pro-Life does not necessarily mean anti choice. I hope this makes sense...for example...I consider myself pro life. I do in fact believe a life begins at conception...I think that one of the most miraculous things that could ever happen to someone is to conceive a child and maybe my religion influences this, but I think God has a plan for every human being...my choice would be to carry the child and do what I could to get by. My mother was pregnant with me at 17...passed up a full law scholarship to stay home and have me...she tells me all the time she wouldn't have had it any other way. I respected her decision to go through tough times and put her dreams on hold for me...

However...I am for the choice of others. What is right for me, may not be for you. Pro Life does not always equal anti choice. I consider myself an open minded person who respects everyone's views...even though I may not always understand it.

Just wanted to clarify that one point...

I hope everyone is enjoying their night.

A logical vote from the man who is now not our president. Go figure. Ahhh the brilliant minds of 51% of the country want the closed minded to rule the country.

How can you be pro life and not anti choice. If you take the political pro life stance you are helping to take away a woman's right to choose.
Now you could be pro choice and say that only for yourself are you pro life and in that case you would vote the pro choice side of things.

Re: Sensitive topic but curious to know..

i am Pro-Choice... but of course I have reservations and such....

i do NOT belive an abortion is birth control or should be used as it.

i do NOT think that an abortion should be done past the first trimester.

i do NOT see a clump of cells as a 'baby'... sorry. of course once it starts developing i do, but lets not get into that.

i do NOT think of it as 'murder' or 'killing' a life, say if you are 6 weeks pregnant... like i said, if youre 6 months pregnant, YES i ocnsider it a baby.

All i have to say is, you think you are against abortion ........ and then you are faced with sucha decision.

I would be 7 months pregnant this month and i feel i did the best thing. I will have a baby when planned now and it will have a better life than what i can give it now. No, i'm not happy about it and YES i think about it everyday and i cry about it. it wasnt easy.. it was the HARDEST thing i EVER did and ever will do... please do NOT FM me if you want to preach to me about it, thanks....

i feel the same 'soul' will come back to me when i get pregant again... and he or she will be with me then.

ETA: i'd rather see 15 yr old have an abortion rather then.... her keep it, resent it, neglect it, beat it, etc.
(yes, i know adoption is always an option....)

you can be..I agree with Johnny&Maur poster...I'am pro -life for ME...I would never or could never have an abortion. I know this because I took on the responsibility based on my own beliefs( I lost both pg's) BUT..my god daughter was born when my BF was 15 years old and she has subsequently terminated another Pregnancy and I truly believe for HER it was her OWN choice based on her beliefs and I agree with her decision.

you can easily believe whats right for you is not right for everyone.

Its basically nothing more then having a belief system yet still an open mind.

ETA- To try to explain myself better. I'm pro-life..which means I believe that abortion is nver the answer, ever. BUT as a moral person I respect everyones own morals as well so I cannot judge someone who goes against my belief because I cannot say I'm the person who's right in the matter. I'm pro-life because I believe a child should be born no matter what the issue is, it has NOTHING to do with religion. I surly do not believe that people who do have abortions are bad people or will be punished etc, I respect them even more.

OHHH goody a topic that I did research about.

When I had an assignment I chose partial birth abortion as my topic..I was surprised to find that many of the aborted 'fetus (babies IMO) are actually SOLD to test labs etc so that they can be used in human experimentation etc. Its a money making industry that is discussed behind closed doors..we woul dnever want to think that happens HERE....And its even better if the baby is closer to term.

I have no problem with someone who has an abortion due to birth defects that are dibilatating..no one should suffer..both parent and child..however I have an issue with people who use it as birth control because their man no longer wants teh baby or they feel they cant take care of it..Guess what..dont have sex then..it comes with consequences and you should be able to handle 'what if'..the exceptions of course are rape, child pregnancy and I mean young like the 10 year olds and 13 year olds..not 15 and 16 year olds and up.

Partial birth abortion after 24 weeks=murder to me unless you have a damn good reason..

The only thing I must disagree with is if you believe that sex results in a consequence that could be a child, then why is it ok for a parent to abort a baby it if it is disabled or debilatated? When you have sex you take the chance, if you are not emotionally able to handle a baby that may not be perfect or may indeed suffer, then to me it seems the same thing?

You also say Partial birth is wrong, yet the typical time frame for locating a disability in a fetus is at 14-20 weeks of Pregnancy. If the fetus is developed enough to be disabled, then that again seems to be the same thing as a partial birth.

I lost a child at 20 weeks of gestation, I had a full delivery and and the 'disability' testing had only been done a few days earlier.

So I do not agree with terminating due to birth defects as my own opinion is it is no worse then what people call 'partial birth abortions'

Re: Sensitive topic but curious to know..

i also wanted to add..... my boss said this to me the other day

'if a woman is 8 months pregnant and the baby dies in her.... she goes to the DR. and has what is called an abortion..... if they make abortion illegal, they are making that illegal'

ETA. i dont agree with abortion in every case, probably less than more... BUT i do not think a man or government should tell a woman she does not have that option.

I also feel, that a persons opinion is almost irrelevant until put in a situation where they can FULLY see what it is like. then they have have a real opinion, otherwise to ME its irrelevant....
